☀️ Where did summer go?

This week, my three short videos have all touched on something I think many adults with ADHD experience as summer starts to disappear.

🌿 Where Did It Go?
That strange feeling that summer arrived… and somehow vanished before you really got going.

☀️ Did You Waste Summer?
Looking back at everything you meant to do — and judging yourself by what never got finished.

🧠 Enough Already
When your brain has simply had enough of the plans, expectations and pressure.

There’s a common thread running through all three: the pressure to make the most of summer can sometimes stop us enjoying the summer we actually had.

If that sounds familiar, the three Shorts are on the YPS Psychology YouTube channel this week.

And on Sunday, I’m going a little deeper with:

🎥 Gone! What Now?

We’ll look at why the end of summer can bring such a strong sense of time slipping away — particularly with ADHD — and, importantly, what can help.

Sometimes you didn't waste the summer.

You just remember all the things you didn't get around to more easily than all the things you did. 💛

August is nearly over… and maybe your summer didn’t become the summer you imagined. ☀️

Perhaps you had plans.

Things you were finally going to get done. Places you were going to go. Routines you were going to start. Maybe you thought you’d feel better, calmer, more organised — or simply more like yourself.

And now September is almost here.

For an ADHD brain, that gap between what you imagined doing and what actually happened can hurt. You can end up mourning the summer you thought you were going to have — and the version of yourself you thought you might become during it.

But an unfinished summer doesn’t mean you wasted it.

And September doesn’t have to begin with another enormous list of promises.

Sometimes it’s better to start smaller. 🧠🌿

ADHD, pressure & saying yes 🧠☀️

Sometimes the pressure isn't coming from anyone else — it's coming from the expectations we put on ourselves.

Making the most of summer. Getting everything done. Saying yes when we really need some space.

This week I've been looking at three everyday ADHD experiences that can quietly add to that pressure:

☀️ Who are you doing this for?

🧠 Why do I keep saying yes?

🌿 Why does summer feel like one long to-do list?

They're all just a few seconds long.

Which one feels most familiar to you?

Who are you doing summer for? ☀️

It’s easy to feel pressure to make the most of every weekend, every sunny day and every opportunity.

But the best summer isn’t necessarily the busiest one. It’s the one that works for you.

Ever said “yes” before you’ve even had time to think? 😩

For adults with ADHD, it can be easy to agree in the moment — then realise you’ve left yourself with no time or space to recover.

This short looks at why protecting your time can be harder than it sounds.

"Why did I say ALL of that?" 😅

If you've ever left a conversation cringing at what you shared, replayed it 10 times, or interrupted without meaning to — this one's for you.

In our latest Ask the Psychologist newsletter, we break down why talking can feel so hard to control with ADHD, and small (not "just be quieter") ways to work with your brain instead of against it.
