* NEWSTEAD ABBEY *

Yesterday, our lovely residents from Hall Park Care Home enjoyed a wonderful, sun-filled day out at the historic Newstead Abbey! ☀️🌸

We packed up our picnic blankets and spent the day exploring the stunning grounds. The clear highlights of our trip included grabbing coffee and teas at the café ☕admiring the beautiful water lilies and feeding the ducks by the lakeside 🦆 watching the cascading waterfall while enjoying ice creams in the sunshine 🍦 and even spotting a magnificent peacock strutting around the grounds.

The best part of the day though was just sitting together sharing our picnic and fond memories of holidays and day trips from times gone by.

A truly fantastic time was had by everyone.

🎻 A Special Musical Treat for Bill 🎶

Our resident Bill was recently treated to a truly special musical performance in the comfort of his own room, performed by his daughter Anna and her talented professional musical friends. ❤️

The room was filled with beautiful classical music, including pieces by Mozart, performed beautifully on the violin. 🎻✨

Bill told our Activities Assistant, Natasha just how much he loves listening to classical music, making this a particularly special treat for him. He was full of smiles as he proudly shared that his daughter Anna has been playing the violin since she was just 5 years old! 🥰

It was a wonderful moment of music, family and treasured memories — and we think Bill may have enjoyed having his very own private concert! 🎶❤️

A huge thank you to Anna and her friends for creating such a beautiful and memorable experience for Bill. 🌟

🌸✨ Pamper Time on Memory Lane! ✨🌸

Today on Memory Lane, some of our residents and staff were treated to a lovely, relaxing pamper session 🥰💆‍♀️

We started with warm face and eye masks, and while everyone was enjoying their little bit of relaxation, they were also treated to a lovely soothing hand massage. 💆‍♀️🤲💕

Well… we say relaxing! 😂 The giggles started as soon as everyone saw each other wearing their face masks! There were plenty of funny faces and lots of laughter.

And then our residents had a very important request… Natasha had to wear a mask too! 🤣 They were absolutely determined to see what she looked like, and judging by the laughter, they found it very entertaining! 😂🧖‍♀️

Once the masks were off, our Activities Assistant Natasha worked her magic with a relaxing facial massage — and suddenly the room went very quiet! 😴💕

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their little bit of pampering and were so pleased with how lovely and refreshed their faces felt afterwards. ✨

A little pampering, lots of laughter, and plenty of happy faces — the perfect afternoon on Memory Lane! 🌸💕

🍾 Yesterday, we popped the bubbly at Hall Park Care Home to celebrate National Prosecco Day in style! 🥂

Our wonderful residents enjoyed a custom-made drinks menu paired perfectly with their evening meal.

They had the choice of a classic glass of Italian Prosecco, a refreshing elderflower fizz, or a fruity mimosa.

The drinks menu went down an absolute treat and brought so many smiles to the dining room.

Cheers to trying new things and making everyday meals extra special✨

🎸 Phil Fest 2026 was a absolute blast! 🤘

We brought the main stage directly to the care home this afternoon for our very own resident rockstar, Phil!

We wanted to make sure Phil got his ultimate magic moment, and boy, did we rock out.The volume was up and the energy was high as we jammed to all of Phil’s absolute favourite rock tracks. We fully embraced the festival spirit with glittery headbanging wigs, a temporary tattoo stall, and plenty of blow-up microphones for those epic air guitar solos.

A truly fantastic time was had by all of our residents and staff. There is no better way we could have spent our afternoon!

Yesterday at Hall Park, there was a very important person in the building… OUR PAULINE! 👑😂🎉

It was Pauline’s birthday and, judging by the amount of attention she received, we’re pretty sure she’s been secretly planning this day for months! 🤭😂

We think Pauline may have spent most of the day saying “thank you!” 😂❤️

And what’s a birthday without CAKE?! 🎂😋
Our fabulous chef Richard worked his magic and created a beautiful birthday cake for Pauline — and we’re pleased to report that it went down VERY well! 👨‍🍳👏😂

But we think Pauline deserves EVEN MORE birthday wishes! 🎈🎉

Remembering Joan ❤️

Today, a couple of our residents from our Memory Lane community came together for a very special morning of planting.

At the recent funeral of our dear former resident, Joan, her family beautifully handed out pansy seeds for everyone to sow in her memory.

Today, those seeds were officially planted here at Hall Park Care Home.

These beautiful flowers are planted in loving memory of Joan, sown with love to grow a lasting, living memory in the gardens she once enjoyed. 🌹🌱

The poem on the seed packets read:

The sun will shine,
The rain will fall,
But my memory,
will stay with you all.

Plant these seeds,
with love and care,
of the memories,
we will always share.

Soon the flowers will be beautiful and bright,
A special reminder of my wonderful life.

🍅♥️ A very special helper in the garden today! 🍅♥️

We had the absolute pleasure of spending time outside with our wonderful resident, Josie this morning for her 1-2-1 session, Josie is 100 years old and loved her walk around the garden visiting our allotment and greenhouse.

Josie helped us pick some of our ready tomatoes to take straight back to the kitchen for dinner.

She loved seeing what else is growing and enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.

👰 Resident Celebrates Granddaughter’s Wedding Blessing 🤵

The team at Derham House Care Home in were delighted to help one of their much-loved residents, June, enjoy a very special day when she attended her granddaughter’s wedding blessing at St Helen & St Giles Church in Rainham, surrounded by family and friends.

June was delighted to witness such an important milestone in her granddaughter’s life and to share in the joy of the occasion.
Following the service, the celebrations continued back at Derham House, where family and friends gathered for a reception.

June, who recently turned 89, commented: “I have had such a marvellous day, my granddaughter, Keeley, looks absolutely beautiful, I am over the moon for her and Daniel, they are such a gorgeous couple. It has been fantastic to celebrate with them and have all my family together.”

What an unforgettable day for all involved! 👏

From 6th to 12th July, residents, patients, families, friends and colleagues across the country will be getting active as part of Get Barchester Moving Week 2026 – a fun-filled week of movement and fundraising in support of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

There’ll be something for everyone – from gentle exercises and dance sessions to sponsored walks, live entertainment and more – all designed to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising while promoting movement and wellbeing.

The Foundation helps older people and those living with disabilities stay connected to their local communities.

⭐ Waterside Court Donates £1,000 to Cycling Charity ⭐

Waterside Court Care Home in recently presented Cycling Without Age with a cheque for £1,000 to support their wonderful contribution in enriching the lives of care home residents and the wider Wallingford community.

Cycling Without Age in Wallingford offers free trishaw rides to residents of care homes and day centres and for elderly local residents, helping to combat loneliness and social isolation.

The grant has been awarded on behalf of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Mike Heath MBE, Operations Manager, said, “The donation is very much welcomed and appreciated and will be a huge help in continuing our contribution to the wellbeing and enjoyment of Wallingford residents.”

Heather, a resident at the home, shared, “Going through Wallingford Town Centre and waving out to people I know, makes my day. We feel very much part of the community.” 👏

🎉 Hafan Y Coed Celebrates Excellent CIW Ratings 🎉

Hafan Y Coed Care Home in passed a recent Care Inspectorate Wales inspection with ‘Excellent’ ratings - the best possible ratings – across the board, after being praised for operating a safe, well-maintained, caring and well-led service.

The report stated that there was a strong sense of community and teamwork in the home nurtured by a very well-respected management team who promote choice, independence and positive wellbeing outcomes for their residents.

A relative commented: “They go over and above what’s required. It’s the thoughtful little things, you don’t need to ask, they just do it.”

Our COO, Natasha Lazovic, visited Hafan Y Coed to congratulate the team on the home’s Excellent ratings and award every member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement. She shared: “Hafan Y Coed is a fantastic home delivering exceptional care to its residents, I couldn’t be prouder of General Manager, Sarah, and every single member of staff here. I am delighted to be here today to congratulate everyone personally, meet the residents and chat to the team about their wonderful work.”

⭐ Elgar Court Wins Prestigious Award ⭐

We’re happy to share that Elgar Court Care Home in has scooped the Best Residential Care Home Award for 2026 in Worcestershire. The home has been chosen out of a number of care homes across Worcestershire.

Elgar Court is a luxury residential care home and opened in July 2023. The care home offers bespoke person-centred residential and dementia care, and is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Malvern Hills – the town which was voted in 2026 as the best place to live in the Midlands.

We’ve created a lovely video showcasing some of the highlights from this year’s Tour de Barchester – a gruelling 200-mile cycling challenge.

Thanks to the incredible support of our colleagues, care homes, sponsors and suppliers, we raised over £64,000 for Barchester's Charitable Foundation, which supports older people and other adults living with a disability or a mental health condition by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

🎉 Elderwood House is Now Complete 🎉

We’re thrilled to share that the Mayor of Swanley, Councillor Michael Horwood, has celebrated the completion of our new luxury care home in , Elderwood House, in front of invited guests from the local community.

Our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, and General Manager, Liza Burchell, hosted the event and invited guests to view the stunning new 62-bed care home.

The home has been designed with residents’ comfort in mind and the team at Elderwood House will offer residential support, respite stays and dementia care, all delivered by a dedicated and passionate team of trained professionals.
