Join us to learn more about sensory processing and the impact early life trauma has on our ability to process the information around us.

10/12/2023

Have you heard of Sensory Processing Difficulties? ❓❓

Impacting on more than 1 in 20 children, particularly those who are neurodivergent, sensory processing impacts on the way sensory information is processed in the brain 🧠

Children can be over responsive to certain sensations and under responsive to others. For example, a child may be over responsive to tactile input, such as labels in clothes, nail cutting, hair cuts, seams in socks, but under responsive to interoception (our internal sense), meaning they don’t register if they are cold, don’t feel pain, don’t know if they need the toilet or are thirsty.

Sensory processing can make the child feel ‘out of sync’ with the world around them, and can impact on their ability to manage every day activities such as personal care, gross and fine motor skills, regulation and play.

Ayres Sensory Integration can help with this. It’s a child led, play based approach targeting the child’s ability to process and internally integrate sensory information from their body and environment. The sessions are typically led by Occupational Therapists with post graduate training in Sensory Integration.

Please click on our video below for further information on our 8 senses. Equally, we still have some spaces remaining for our next online training on the 19th December at 10-12.30 UK time. Tickets are available in the link below 👇
