A caring career can start in places you might not expect 💙

Many great Care Professionals have previously worked in retail, hospitality, customer service or office roles. The skills you’ve built along the way, like listening, supporting others, staying organised and building relationships, can make a real difference in care.

At Home Instead, care is about more than completing tasks. Our longer visits give you the chance to slow down, get to know your clients and provide support that feels personal and meaningful.

If you’re looking for a rewarding role where kindness and people skills truly matter, we’d love to hear from you.

Have you heard of cuckooing? 🏠

Cuckooing is when criminals take over someone’s home and use it for illegal activities such as dealing drugs or other criminal behaviour. Vulnerable people are often targeted, including older adults, people living alone or those struggling with their mental health, money or addiction.

The person may feel frightened, isolated, or unable to ask for help - especially if they believe the criminal is a friend or someone they can trust.

Some warning signs can include lots of unusual visitors, changes in mood or behaviour, damage around the home or someone becoming withdrawn from family and friends.

Knowing the signs and checking in on vulnerable people in our communities can help keep people safe 💙

Feeling pulled in all directions? You’re not alone - many people today are part of the “sandwich generation” 🥪

Balancing the needs of children, ageing parents and work can be rewarding, but it can also take its toll. It’s a lot to carry, and it’s easy to feel stretched too thin.

Getting extra support doesn’t mean doing less - it means making life a little more manageable. Even a bit of help at home can relieve pressure and give you space to focus on what matters most.

If you’re managing multiple responsibilities and could use a hand, our friendly team in Nottingham is here for you. Call 0115 922 6116 or visit www.homeinstead.co.uk/nottingham to learn more about how we can support you.

Sometimes, the most important support is simply having someone there 💙

Companionship care is about more than helping with day-to-day tasks - it’s about connection, conversation, and spending time with someone who genuinely cares.

Whether it’s enjoying a chat over a cup of tea, getting out and about, taking part in favourite activities or building confidence outside the home, companionship can make a real difference to wellbeing and independence.

Having regular company can also provide reassurance for families, giving loved ones peace of mind and a chance to take a well-earned break from caring responsibilities.

At Home Instead, our carefully matched Care Professionals provide friendly, meaningful companionship tailored to each person’s interests, routines and personality - because everyone deserves to feel connected, valued and supported!

Family means something different to everyone - and that’s what makes it so special 💙

On International Day of Families, we’re celebrating the people who support us, care for us and stand by us through every stage of life. From parents and grandparents to siblings, friends, and neighbours - family is about connection, kindness and being there when it matters most.

As life changes, so do the roles we play within our families. A little extra support along the way can help keep those connections strong, giving everyone the time and space to enjoy meaningful moments together.

Today is a reminder to appreciate the small things - a chat, a visit or a helping hand - because they often mean the most.
