Granville's Wood is part of Walton Woods in Chesterfield.

There is a very small car park just off Matlock Road, but it's not owned by us, so we can't guarantee there will be a space when you visit. There is a bus stop nearby too. Access on foot is available at any time, but if you need to take a vehicle closer to the entrance, we ask you book in with at least 48hrs notice.

Our woodland doesn't always have staff on site, so booking allows us to make sure we can be there.

Our tree list for planting at Granville's Wood does change. This is to make sure we don't over plant one particular species.

The woodland is actually a commercial pine crop, planted to be harvested for telegraph poles. As they became obsolete, the woodland was slowly abandoned. Our project to restore it to a healthy, thriving eco system is still ongoing.

Sometimes we will add or remove trees from our list, so that we get a better mix. It's important to us that your chosen tree will do well, given the space it needs, light and soil acidity (the wood is heavy with clay).

Our site team work in collaboration with you, or your chosen funeral director, to keep things as simple and stress free as possible.

From that day onwards we continue to work for the woodland and the people, pets and visitors in our care. We are grateful for the trust placed in us.

Did you know we used horse power to remove felled trees when we first opened?

It wasn't long before they could no longer navigate the paths to keep nooks intact, but it was a wonderful system to start us off. Low impact in so many senses and working with local experts, which has always been important to us.

Granville's Wood continues to change and innovate, but our core values remain the same.

Our new bee hotels are now available and look fantastic.

Small, medium and large versions have been added to our Legacy Additions list, prices include installation.

We are now looking at ways to better support frogs and toads...

Today is Bereaved Parents Day, many of our staff are marking this by lighting a candle at 7pm.

Sending our deepest condolences to the families at Granville's that have had to bury a child. We are so honoured to care for them with you.
