This morning we carried out a crown reduction on this silver birch in Gedling.

The tree had been heavily reduced several years ago, which has unfortunately led to the development of cavities and areas of decay. Our priority was to retain the tree, while improving its long-term safety and preserving its natural appearance. By carefully reducing the canopy, we were able to remove a significant amount of weight, reducing the risk of failure while still maintaining the tree’s shape and character.

While the tree can be safely retained for now, the extent of the decay means it will need ongoing monitoring and, in time, may require further reduction or eventual removal.

Our aim is always to strike the right balance between safety, tree health, and preserving mature trees wherever possible.
