Helping local patients breathe easier

Our Primary Care Network pharmacy team recently delivered a series of asthma education events followed by one to one appointments, helping local patients better understand and manage their asthma.

Across our 11 member GP practices, patients received:
💙 Interactive education sessions covering:
• Recognising the signs of poor asthma control
• Correct inhaler technique
• What to do during an asthma attack
• Practical advice for managing asthma day to day

💙 One to one appointments to ensure treatment was tailored and optimised for each individual.

The programme also provided valuable learning opportunities for 16 pharmacy students, who worked alongside our experienced team to gain hands-on clinical experience.

The results speak for themselves:
✅ 67 patients supported
✅ 88% improved their inhaler technique
✅ 41% switched to guideline-recommended therapy
✅ 38% switched to more environmentally friendly inhalers
⭐ Education events rated 9.5/10 on average by attendees

The feedback from patients was overwhelmingly positive, with many saying the sessions gave them knowledge and confidence they had never received before.

We are incredibly proud of what our pharmacy team has achieved and look forward to building on this success with more programmes that support the health and wellbeing of our local communities.

We are excited to announce that the new and improved GP Triage is now live at Old Mill Surgery! 🎉 We have listened to your feedback and worked with GP Triage to make accessing appointments and services easier than ever.

💬 YOU SAID: "I can't use the online system because I don't have an email address recorded."
✅ WE DID: Patients can now access GP Triage and request appointments without needing an email address saved on their medical record.

💬 YOU SAID: "I can only see appointments during normal surgery hours."
✅ WE DID: GP Triage now works seamlessly with our Enhanced Access Hub, allowing patients to see and book available appointments across participating practices, including evening and weekend appointments.

💬 YOU SAID: "I can't book an appointment for my child."
✅ WE DID: Parents and carers can now enter symptoms and request appointments on behalf of their children through GP Triage.

💬 YOU SAID: "The forms are too long and difficult to complete."
✅ WE DID: The new version features:
• Multiple choice questions
• Simpler navigation
• Clear, highlighted information
• Fewer free-text fields
This means it's now quicker and easier to tell us what you need and get directed to the most appropriate care.

directly from the main GP Triage menu.

☀️ Enjoy the nice weather — safely! ☀️
Using suncream, wearing a hat and staying in the shade where possible are the best ways to protect your skin and reduce your risk of melanoma. Even on cloudy days, harmful UVA & UVB rays can still reach your skin.
✅ Apply suncream at least 20 minutes before going outside
✅ Reapply every 2 hours (and after swimming or sweating)
✅ Don’t forget hats, sunglasses & shade

👻 Are you a ghost patient?

A ghost patient is someone who has been removed from their GP practice list because their details could not be confirmed during the NHS patient list validation process. This could mean losing your GP registration without even realising it.

‼️ Our practice wants to continue supporting your health and care needs, but the process is completed nationally ‼️

If you receive a letter from NHS England or Primary Care Support England asking you to confirm your details, it is important to respond. Take a look at the information in the image below to find out why it matters and what you need to do💙
