George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust has welcomed the sentencing of knife attacker following an incident at the hospital earlier this year.

Bradley Thornton was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court, where he received an 18-month prison sentence for the offences committed at the hospital and a total custodial sentence of 24 months after also pleading guilty to other unrelated offences. He had attempted to enter The A&E Department and was challenged and restrained by the security team before being arrested by police.

Adam Carson, Managing Director of George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust said: "The safety of our patients, visitors and colleagues remains our highest priority. We have a zero-tolerance approach to violence, aggression and criminal behaviour on our sites and will continue to work closely with Warwickshire Police and partner agencies to support investigations and prosecutions where appropriate.

"We would like to thank our security team for their hard work in protecting patients and staff and Warwickshire Police for their professionalism and support throughout the investigation."
