150kg Sled Pulls 🔥

One of my go-to exercises for managing patellofemoral pain (PFPS) and building knee capacity.

Why?

✅ High quadriceps demand with relatively low patellofemoral joint stress
✅ Improves load tolerance through progressive overload
✅ Allows athletes to maintain strength and conditioning while symptoms settle
✅ Low-impact alternative to running, jumping and change of direction work
✅ Effective bridge between rehabilitation and return to performance

For PFPS, the goal isn’t to avoid loading the knee it’s to load it appropriately. Sled pulls allow us to challenge the quads and build resilience without exposing the knee to the higher forces seen in many traditional training.

Health and fitness can sometimes be quite fragmented, but one thing we do well down at Hale is work together to give members the best possible experience.

The team at Forge have built a great relationship with the PTs, and we regularly work as a referral network to make sure clients get exactly what they need.

I’ve been working with Rhain and his clients for the last 9 months, and the collaborative approach has been brilliant. Clients receive a structured training and nutrition plan from Rhain, while I can oversee movement quality, rehab, and add any exercises I feel are needed to keep them progressing and injury-free.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t do everything yourself. Working alongside good people with different skill sets always leads to better outcomes and better results for the client.

New space. New energy. 🚀

The first two weeks of June have been incredible.

PBs across the board, clients making huge improvements, and many now progressing into more gym-based rehab or reaching discharge milestones. Seeing people regain confidence in their bodies never gets old.

A few highlights:

✅ Joined Applied Nutrition as a clinic partner and will be supporting events with injury assessments and sports massage.

🎥 Had Mohamed Salah visit the old clinic to film a Vodafone World Cup advert.

🤝 New clinicians have welcomed their first clients into the new clinic, Becky Stone and JM Rehabilitation.

💪 Taking on two new PT clients for twice-weekly sessions, alongside hybrid programming designed to help them return to training after chronic MSK-related pain had previously stopped them from exercising.

Excited for what’s ahead. The momentum is building, and we’re only just getting started.

– Review Session #2 👟

After picking up a soleus injury during training, Katie came in for her second review session this week.

The good news? We’ve seen a huge reduction in calf pain alongside some great improvements in strength, which means she’s now been cleared to return to running and start building back up for her upcoming ultramarathon across Snowdon. 🏔️

The things my clients sign up for never cease to amaze me. The determination, resilience, and occasional madness involved in these events is seriously impressive.

Great work so far Katie, and I’m looking forward to seeing all the hard work pay off on race day in a few weeks’ time. 👏

One thing I’ve really enjoyed recently as a Sports Rehab Clinician and Coach is working alongside a variety of PTs and coaches. Every coach has a different approach, and there’s always something to learn—from programming and exercise selection to the ways they keep clients motivated, engaged, and accountable.

It’s something I’m keen to keep developing within my own coaching philosophy. The goal is to improve every day, both as a clinician and as a coach, so I can continue providing the best possible support for my clients.

Back day with 🏋️‍♂️

Solid session with .flynn99 — the guy is an absolute beast 💪

If anyone is looking for personal training in the Shaw/Royton area, he’s your man 🙌

It’s been great getting back to my roots with strength and hypertrophy training after trying the hybrid athlete route back in January.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I’ve managed to maintain my weight while my strength numbers have gone through the roof.

The biggest change for me has been training with different people. Having good training partners pushes you that extra 5% and helps you get more out of every session.
