More than 20 years ago, the Canadian Coast Guard/Garde côtière canadienne in Nova Scotia first approached Future Safety to explore the Manta helmet range and undertake operational trials.

Those early conversations led to an introduction to DSS Protection, a Canadian distributor that would become a trusted partner in supplying multi-role safety helmets across Canada.

Today, we are proud to share that Future Safety, in partnership with DSS Protection, has secured a nationwide contract to supply the MH3 Manta safety helmet to the Canadian Coast Guard.

For us, this achievement reflects two decades of collaboration, listening to operational users, refining our products, and working alongside partners who understand the environments in which these helmets are used.

We are grateful for the confidence placed in the MH3 Manta by crews operating in some of Canada's most challenging maritime conditions, and we look forward to continuing to support their important work.

A special thank you to the team at DSS Protection for their partnership and support throughout this journey.

If you're attending Seawork 2026, visit us on Stand P15 to see the Canadian Coast Guard MH3 Manta helmet and learn more about the journey behind its selection.

Whether by land, sea, or air, the Manta gets you there.

Designed as a truly multi-role safety helmet, the Manta continues to protect personnel operating in some of the world’s most demanding environments. Whilst operational requirements may differ, the need for reliable, lightweight head protection remains the same.

On land, the Manta supports a wide range of applications, from mountain and technical rescue operations to ATV response, fire and rescue services, animal rescue, search and rescue teams, and specialist emergency response units. The image shown here features a Polish mountain rescue ATV, with two of our Manta 3 helmets, where crews operate in challenging terrain and unpredictable conditions where protection and comfort are paramount during long operational periods.

At sea, the Manta is trusted by organisations working in demanding marine environments. From rescue and coastguard operations to maritime pilot transfer, port authority duties, and vessel operations, crews require equipment that performs in harsh weather, exposed conditions and fast-moving operational conditions. The manta is also worn by navies, maritime police units and specialist marine teams worldwide. Pictured here (image 2) are Humberside Rescue, one of the many organisations relying on the Manta during frontline maritime operations.

In the air, the Manta is worn by specialist doctors and paramedics after arriving on scene, operating in equally demanding circumstances. London's Air Ambulance Charity use Manta helmets during critical emergency operations, where the priority is patient care and safety above anything else. Opportunities to capture these helmets in use are naturally limited, but we are proud to support crews working in some of the most challenging conditions, where equipment must perform where it matters most.

From remote terrain environments to open water and emergency response, the Manta’s versatility continues to make it a trusted choice across multiple sectors worldwide.

Multi-role protection across land, sea, and air.

Visit Future Safety on Stand P15 at Seawork 2026 (9-11 June) to see the Manta range up close, and speak with our team about your requirements.

A productive week for Future Safety! Colin Holmes (Future Safety Director) is currently in Switzerland working on the final stages of a new harness, ratchet and chinstrap system for our helmets.

The updated system has been developed with a focus on improved airflow, fit, comfort and performance in demanding marine and water-based environments.

This work has come directly from conversations and operational feedback shared during the recent European Maritime Pilots' Association (EMPA) event in Ghent, which provided a valuable opportunity to spend time with the people who use this equipment every day.

Direct connection with end users remains one of the most important parts of how we approach product development. Listening carefully, making practical improvements, and continuing to refine our equipment based on real operational experience has always been at the core of what we do.

We’re looking forward to sharing more once the new system is finalised. In the meantime, what a perfect location for these meetings to take place!

We’re proud to see the Future Safety Manta MH-4 supporting the incredible work of the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA), who provide declared lifeboat operations along with water and land search and rescue capabilities across Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

After extensive trials, SARA selected the Manta MH-4 in high-visibility yellow for their lifeboat operations, working closely with Future Safety to tailor the helmets to their operational requirements. Enhancements included:
• Full face visors
• Corrosion-resistant fittings
• Enhanced harness adjustments for improved fit
• Integration with crew intercom communication systems
• Accessory compatibility for torches, cameras and other operational equipment

Following the success of the MH-4 in lifeboat operations, SARA also transitioned the helmets into their swift water rescue operations, where the helmets meet and exceed DEFRA technical and compliance requirements.

One of the biggest operational advantages highlighted by SARA was the ability to standardise training and equipment across multiple rescue scenarios while maintaining confidence that crews have the right protection for the task at hand.

A huge thank you to the SARA team for their trust, feedback and ongoing collaboration. We are proud to support organisations performing such critical rescue work in some of the UK’s most challenging environments.

We love seeing our helmet systems put to the test in all kinds of environments and operational conditions, especially when they are supporting such an important cause! We recently received these photos and kind words from MOAT VZW, an organisation undertaking all-road adventures with a deeper mission: raising awareness around PTSD among military personnel and first responders.

As part of these demanding journeys, the team were searching for a versatile helmet solution capable of delivering comfort, adaptability and reliable performance across a range of operational environments.

Here’s their full review of the Future Safety Manta:

“At MOAT VZW, we do all-road adventures with a deeper mission: raising awareness around PTSD among military personnel and first responders. As part of these journeys, we were looking for the perfect helmet to accompany us on our adventures, something versatile that could complement my rally helmet for all-round use.

That’s how I discovered Future Safety, and I chose the Manta.

The first thing I noticed is the excellent fit. The helmet is easy to adjust and stays securely in place once fitted. It also feels lightweight, making it very comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Another major advantage is its modular design. I was able to install my intercom system without any issues. There’s also a dedicated strap holder for goggles, which is a very practical feature.

The Velcro elements are a great addition and provide the perfect finishing touch.

For me, this helmet has become the ideal companion for riding both a quad and an SSV. ”

A huge thank you to MOAT VZW for sharing their experience, and for the important work they are doing to support awareness around PTSD.

“Sidmouth Lifeboat crews love the Future Safety Manta Pro tactical safety helmet for sea rescue. It gives strong head protection, a secure fit and practical comfort in tough marine conditions. Its lightweight design supports fast movement, clear communication, and reliable performance when crews face demanding rescues on the water. The helmets are coupled to IWCS comms which provide full duplex comms for crew and launch vehicle.”

We were so pleased to receive this feedback from SIDMOUTH LIFEBOAT Crews recently, as this is exactly what our team set out to achieve with the Manta Pro system. We wanted to offer users a dependable protection, with comfort and communication performance in some of the most demanding maritime environments.

Built to the same specification trusted by some of the UK’s largest lifeboat stations, the Manta Pro features the advanced Skydex harness cradle system for enhanced comfort and impact protection, while the tactical side rail allows seamless integration with IWCS communication systems.

Future Safety will be attending Seawork 2026 from 9–11 June alongside Dorian Marine Ltd, showcasing integrated helmet and communications solutions designed specifically for marine and rescue operations. Make sure you come and see the options for yourself; you can find us in Booth

Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough!

To recognise Sir David Attenborough’s recent milestone birthday, we thought we would share a project we have been working on alongside the team at the British Antarctic Survey.

The British Antarctic Survey Safety team approached us looking for helmet system solutions to support their polar research operations. BAS activities span a wide range of high-risk environments and tasks, including small boat operations, Skidoo travel across glaciers, construction work, and ship-to-shore transfers, all carried out in some of the harshest conditions on earth. It is a true multi-hazard operating environment.

Last September, we were invited to the British Antarctic Survey headquarters in Cambridge, where we introduced the team to the Manta helmet system and discussed how it could support their diverse operational requirements.

During the most recent Antarctic season, the BAS safety team deployed with the helmets across a number of polar stations, including South Georgia, the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Sandwich Islands.

The team also spent time on board the Royal Research Ship Sir David Attenborough, using the helmets during ship-to-shore operations and working at height activities.

We are now in the process of reviewing the operational feedback and findings from the season to help develop a bespoke solution tailored to the unique demands of polar research operations.

We would like to thank the British Antarctic Survey team for the opportunity to support such important work in one of the world’s most challenging environments.

We know that comfort, fit and security all play a critical role in safety performance. That’s why every detail matters when it comes to our helmet harness systems.

In Video 2 of our harness series, Matt gives us a closer look at the Advanced Harness System featured across selected Future Safety helmets. Designed to provide enhanced stability, adjustability and wearer comfort, the system helps ensure a secure fit in demanding working environments. Using a wire system, the harness allows a 270-degree adjustment, tightening evenly around the head.

A properly fitted helmet is essential for maintaining protection when it matters most. Through this series, we’re highlighting the engineering and thought process behind the different harness systems available across the Future Safety range.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore the features that support safety, comfort and confidence on the job.

Future Safety Helmet Harnesses

This video is the first in a series exploring the different harness systems available across the Manta helmet range from Future Safety.

We begin with the standard harness system, included with all Manta helmets. Designed for comfort, stability and ease of adjustment, it provides a secure fit in demanding operational environments, where reliable head protection is critical.

In high-risk industries, it’s not just about the helmet itself, but how it performs in real-world conditions. We focus on fit, retention, and confidence in movement. A well-designed harness system plays a critical role in keeping the helmet secure, and the user safe, when it matters most.

Stay tuned as we take a closer look at the full range of harness options later this week.
