Racing this Weekend?

Why have a Pre-Event or Post-Event Massage??

PRE-RUN massages are short, brisk, and stimulating to boost circulation and warm up muscles.
When: 30- 60 Minutes before race.
Aim: To prime your legs for action without fatiguing them.
Areas: Calves, quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes.
Duration: Keep it short (5–10 minutes) so muscles remain loose and active.

In contrast, POST-RUN massages use slower, restorative strokes to flush metabolic waste and accelerate recovery.
When: 0-72 Hours after
Aim: Reduce inflammation, relieve muscle tension, and prevent soreness
Areas: Legs, glutes and back as required
Duration: Stick to 10–15 minutes of very light, upward effleurage (at race, 0-2 hours after). 45-60 mins in clinic (24-72 hrs after).

💬 “What matters to you?” not just “what’s the matter?”

Pain isn’t only about tissues, scans, or symptoms.
It affects what you can do, how you feel, and what’s meaningful in your life.

👉 That’s where What Matters to You? comes in.
Instead of focusing only on the problem, we focus on you:

What do you want to get back to?
What feels important day-to-day?
What gives your life meaning?

Because managing persistent pain isn’t just about reducing pain, it’s about helping you move towards what matters most.

✨ Small, meaningful steps can make a big difference.

Have a think today "What Matter's to you?"

Any payments made to myself are going straight to my fundraising for Race the Sun. A triathlon-type event in early Sept (eek!). Those donations are for the children's charity Action for Medical Research.

See you there. Come and say hello. Get those muscles sorted pre or post Race.

On a personal note, it's been a tough couple of months with illness and bereavements.

However I'm beginning to bounce back 💪.

As some of you know, I'm taking part in a Triathlon-Type Event (Dusk to Dawn) early September to fundraise for Action for Medical Research. I MUST BE MAD! I didn't realise the steepness of the cycle and climb 😳.

So if you can spare any pennies at all, I'd be very grateful. The attached flyer has a QR code that takes you to the justgiving page.

Alternatively- I've a raffle going on for a Coach handbag too - keep your eyes posted for that too!

MASSAGE THERAPY, LYMPHOEDEMA, AND PALLIATIVE CARE

My Mum is currently receiving Palliative Care at home. It isn't an easy time, but I'm in the lucky position, and feeling quite privileged, to be able to support her with manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) and massage care.

MLD is a specialised type of massage that may be used to treat lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is swelling that develops because of a build-up of lymph fluid in the body’s tissues. The lymphatic system usually drains the fluid away. Lymphoedema happens when the lymphatic system is not working properly. MLD can improve circulation in the lymphatic system.

It involves applying gentle pressure to your body by stroking, kneading, holding or tapping it. It can focus on the whole body, or on 1 area such as the hands, face, shoulders or feet. This means you do not always need to remove any clothing to have treatment.

Some studies of people with cancer suggest that massage therapy may also help reduce anxiety, depression and fatigue.

If this may be of interest to you or your family member please get in touch. Family members or friends can be shown simple massage techniques to use between appointments. Home visits are available.

Sometimes it's worthwhile trying something new.

This weekend is Women Go Gliding Weekend 2026. Did you know only 5% of pilots are female. So simulator ready, and off flying around Aboyne with feet on the ground, was I! Deeside Gliding Club are offering free sessions this weekend

Sometimes it's good to experiment and try new things. Go live, go love, go treasure every minute.
