🌟 Proud of our people. Proud of the difference they make. 🌟

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news from the Nottinghamshire Proud to Care Awards.

With more than 700 nominations submitted this year, we’re incredibly proud that five members of our team, Levi, Hasibur, Ajeesh, Megan and Kat, were nominated by their colleagues for the contribution they make to social care. 💛

Being recognised by the people who work alongside you every day is something very special.

And then there’s Lee… ⭐

We are absolutely thrilled that Lee has gone one step further and has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Rising Star Award!

Lee has a unique role across our two organisations. As a Community Care Worker with Responsive Care Group, she supports people to remain safe and independent in their own homes. As a Harris James Active Coach, she works with people to build strength, mobility, confidence and independence.

Two roles. One purpose, helping people continue living life on their terms.

Whatever happens at the awards, being selected as a finalist from such a huge number of nominations is already a brilliant achievement.

Congratulations Lee! And congratulations to Levi, Hasibur, Ajeesh, Megan and Kat on your nominations too.

There is often a moment when something begins to feel different. Stairs feel a little harder, balance less certain, getting up from a chair takes more effort, or confidence in everyday movement begins to change. 💭

Harris James Active, powered by EverFit, is a professional physical coaching programme delivered one-to-one in the home by certified trained coaches, focusing on the four abilities that support everyday independence: strength, balance, flexibility and mobility. 📈

☑️ Sessions last around 45 minutes
☑️ Tailored to the individual
☑️ Gradually rebuild confidence in movement or maintain the abilities that keep life active

People explore Active because they have noticed a change in their physical confidence or ability.

Our goal is simple: to help people regain strength, rebuild confidence and continue living independently for long as possible. 💪

Our team has prepared, thank you to Michelle for being chef of the day 👩‍🍳🙏, and delivered Christmas dinners to people we support who would otherwise be on their own today or are not able to cook a Christmas meal for themselves. Huge thanks to Stacey, Luke, Ester, and others who have been out and made this happen!

Everyone deserves to feel included and cared for on Christmas Day. For some, that simply means a hot meal, familiar faces, and knowing that someone has thought about them.

We are incredibly proud of our team for taking the time to make today feel special and for making sure no one is forgotten.

Today is about people. About care, kindness, and being there for one another, especially for those who may find this time of year difficult.

To the people we support and their families, thank you for trusting us to be part of your lives. To our incredible team, particularly those working today, thank you for the compassion, commitment, and dedication you show every single day. The difference you make does not go unnoticed.

Winter bugs are circulating 🦠 so Stacey (Director) and Kat (Care Coordinator) have been out on visits today, helping ensure continuity of care. Working alongside our team through the dark morning, heavy rain ☔️ winds 💨 and we even got a bit of sunshine ☀️ We always do what needs to be done, together. There’s no ‘them and us’, no office staff vs. Support staff, just one team with one purpose!

It’s been a good chance for them to spend time with colleagues and with the people we support.
From Weetabix and porridge to Sunday dinners and Victoria sponge with custard, chatting about memories and slipping gravy bones to much-loved dogs ❤️ it’s been a day filled with connection, warmth, and good humour.

💛 No cancellations
🤍 No missed visits
🩶 Just the team pulling together, as one

This is who we are as a service. We all step up for each other and for the people we support, living our SMILE values every single day.

🎄 Newark Fire Station is hosting a Christmas Open Day later this month – and it’s right on our doorstep

We love seeing community events like this bringing people together. It’s a great chance to meet local teams, enjoy a festive afternoon, and even get your bike securely marked by Newark Police: Rural Villages
Neighbourhood Police. 🚓🚲

At Responsive Care Group, community connection matters. Many of the people we support live in and around Newark, and events like this help strengthen the relationships that make our area such a great place to live.
