A before and after only tells you part of the story…

We use before and after photographs because they're a really useful way of seeing what's changed.

But you don't spend your life standing completely still, in the same position, under the same light.

You talk. You smile. You laugh. Your face moves.

So when I'm planning treatment, I'm not thinking about how something will look in the photograph afterwards. I'm thinking about how that result will sit with the rest of your face when you're actually living in it.

A photograph gives me a lovely record of the result.

You get to take it home and wear it in real life 🤍

I know, I know. It sounds a little bit cheesy 😂

But there is a reason I love what I do.

Of course I enjoy the treatments themselves. I love the anatomy, the planning and seeing a result come together.

But the bit that really matters is the person attached to the face.

When someone comes back and tells me they feel happier without makeup or they feel a bit more confident when they look in the mirror, that's the really good bit 🤍

Being able to do a treatment isn't the same as thinking I should.

I've trained in treatments that I won't recommend to every person who asks for them. And occasionally I'll recommend something completely different from what someone had in mind when they booked.

That's not me being difficult 😂 It's me doing the job you're actually paying me to do.

You're not just paying for the treatment itself. You're paying for my experience and judgement about whether it's suitable for you, whether there's a better option and whether I think it's likely to give you what you're hoping for.

I take that part of my job every bit as seriously as the treatment itself.

So if I ever say, "Actually, I wouldn't do that..." I promise I'll always explain why 🤍

People start coming back with the things they've been meaning to ask me about, skincare gets a little more attention again, and we commit to the treatments we may have decided to leave until after the summer.

And this year, of course, I'm coming back to it all too.

A little change can be plenty 🥰

One of the things I love about a result like this is that it doesn't need to be dramatic to be worth doing.

Sometimes you're looking at the before and after thinking, yes, that's exactly what we wanted.

The difference might be relatively small to somebody else. But when it's the thing you've been noticing every time you look in the mirror, it can feel much more significant to you.

And ultimately, that's whose opinion matters 🤍

After having rather more time away than I would have chosen, I can confirm that, yes, I really did miss working in clinic.

It's lovely seeing all of you again, getting my hands back on faces and skin, and generally feeling a bit more like myself.

Don't ever worry about offending me with questions

If I'm injecting something into your face, you're absolutely entitled to know what it is, where it's come from and why I'm recommending it.

You can ask about my qualifications. You can ask whether the product is licensed for use in the UK and what happens if you need help afterwards.

You can ask anything!

These aren't awkward questions and a good practitioner won't treat them as though they are.

There have been stories in the news recently that are a sad reminder that we can't simply assume everything happening behind the scenes in aesthetics is as it should be.

I'm always happy to show you what I'm using and explain why I've chosen it for you.

This is the bit I really missed 🤍

Being back in clinic means being back doing what I love, and getting to create lovely results like this again.

There's something very satisfying about seeing the plan you've discussed with someone come together and then getting to look at the before and after side by side.

After a good few weeks away, I'm definitely appreciating this part of my job even more than usual.

And I can't wait to create some more lovely results and share them with you.

It feels very good to be back 🤍
