Hooray!! We’ve just finished writing The A–Z of Therapeutic Parenting – Teens and Tweens.
(Author team, me, Sair Penna, Sarah Dillon and Gareth Thomas)

This is a book we’ve been asked for again and again by adoptive parents, foster parents and kinship carers who told us they needed more practical help for those often challenging teenage and pre-teen years.

And now, it’s finally written. (Phew)!

Like the original A–Z of Therapeutic Parenting, this book is grounded in real life and lived experience. It isn’t about parenting in theory. It’s about what happens when you are actually living alongside a child or young person whose early experiences can make adolescence very different from the teenage years described in conventional parenting books.

And another 80 topics! All with strategies and solutions that work.

We have lived through/ are living through baffling behaviours, the frightening moments, the arguments, the risks and those times when you simply think, “What on earth do I do now?”

We are now just making the final touches before sending the manuscript off to our publishers for editing.

We’ll also shortly be opening conference and training bookings for 2027 around The A–Z of Therapeutic Parenting – Teens and Tweens. If you’re thinking about bringing this subject to your organisation next year, get in touch early, as dates are likely to go quickly once the book is published.

💜 Our First Girls Group! 💜

What a wonderful start to our very first Girls Group! It was so lovely to see the girls getting to know one another, building friendships, and growing in confidence throughout the session.

One of our activities encouraged each girl to reflect on what makes them them—their qualities, strengths, interests, and all the little things that make them unique. It was so special to see them recognise and celebrate themselves with confidence. The photos below are a glimpse of the beautiful words and ideas they shared about what makes them who they are. 💕

Our Girls Group is all about creating a safe, supportive space where every girl feels valued, heard, and empowered to be herself, and we couldn't have asked for a better first session.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made our first Girls Group such a success. Here's to many more! 💜✨

"Behaviour is not the enemy, behaviour is the message"- Sarah Dillon.

Today, our foster parents and staff are taking part in "Children Who Can't Engage" training and the above quote from this training reminds us of where our focus needs to remain AT 👏 ALL 👏 TIMES 👏

If you want training from professionals who get it, who have lived it and who understand that it's okay for you to not be okay all the time, give us a call.

We never let a child's "little me" stay outside the front door. We work closely with foster parents to help children to understand that all parts of them deserve to be loved.
