FASCIA, FEET & FACELIFT 👣💋
Want a facelift?
Start with your feet. 😂

Your feet are the foundation of your body, and your fascia creates a continuous web of connection all the way up to your head.

If your feet aren’t moving and supporting you well, your body can compensate higher up — affecting posture, neck tension, head position and even how you carry your face.

So before you start pulling your face upwards… Try waking your feet up. 👣

In Pilates lesson, we explore the surprisingly juicy connection between your feet, fascia, posture and facial expression.

Your toes may be small, but they play a huge role in how you move. They help with balance, stability and push-off when you walk, while also providing important sensory feedback to your brain. When our toes become weak or stiff, the rest of the body often has to compensate. That’s why in my Pilates classes we spend time waking up the feet and toes with simple, effective exercises that improve strength, mobility and awareness—helping you move with greater confidence from the ground up. 👣

Pilates and feet 🦶

The truth is, your feet contain thousands of nerve endings that constantly send information to your brain about balance, movement and where your body is in space.

But modern life has changed everything.

We spend hours in cushioned shoes, on flat floors, sitting in chairs and travelling in cars. Our feet have become passengers instead of active participants.

And when the feet stop doing their job, the rest of the body often has to step in and do the heavy lifting. Knees, hips, backs and even necks can end up working overtime because the body’s foundation isn’t giving clear information.

Healthy feet don’t just help you walk — they influence:

• Balance and stability
• Posture
• Strength through the legs and core
• Confidence as we age
• How efficiently we move every single day

That’s why in Pilates we don’t ignore the feet. We wake them up. We strengthen them. We challenge them. We encourage them to feel the floor and reconnect with the nervous system.

A house is only as strong as its foundations.

So next time you think about improving your posture…

Modern life reduces sensory feedback and movement variety; Pilates increases both!

“Our ancestors didn’t spend eight hours in chairs, walk on foam soles all day, then collapse onto a cloud-like mattress. Their bodies received constant feedback from the ground, their joints and their muscles. Modern life is wonderfully comfortable — but often a little too quiet for the nervous system. Pilates turns the volume back up: balance, breath, foot contact, rotation and movement all help the brain reconnect with the body.”

“Pilates: the cheapest therapy you’ll ever love.” ❤️

Life can feel busy, noisy and demanding. Pilates gives you an hour that’s just for you.

An hour to move.
An hour to breathe.
An hour to strengthen your body, improve your posture and let go of built-up tension.

Most clients tell me they don’t just leave feeling stronger—they leave feeling calmer, clearer, more refreshed and ready for whatever the day brings.

That’s the real magic of Pilates.

Pilates & Body awareness

Pilates is an education in
body awareness – it changes your shape by educating you in daily life activities. When you're cooking, brushing your teeth, lifting or unloading etc., – the lessons are coming home to pull your stomach in and put your shoulders down. It teaches you how to train your mind and build symmetry and co-ordination in the body and when you can get control of the little things, that's practising willpower
– of how you sit or how you stand or how you move and being able to relate those habits to the aches and pains and injuries you have or have had in the past.

Standing on one leg for 10 seconds isn’t a test of willpower—it’s a test of communication. Your eyes, inner ear, muscles, joints, and cerebellum are working together in a remarkable predictive loop. Every time you practise balance, you’re training your brain as much as your body. ✨🧠🦶

This is what I teach and truly believe in through Pilates: building the kind of intelligent, responsive movement that safeguards balance, supports longevity, and carries well into the future of how we age and function ❤️

Muscles: Strong Isn’t Tight - The Power of Release

Strength is only half the story—our muscles also need to learn how to fully let go. When a muscle can’t relax, it stays partially switched on, which can lead to stiffness, poor movement patterns, and unnecessary strain on joints. True functional movement comes from balance: the ability to contract with control and release with ease. Teaching the body to relax isn’t about doing less—it’s about allowing more efficiency, freedom, and coordination in every movement.

Because Pilates is a form of exercise that centers around reeducating proper alignment while strengthening synergistic muscles, it is the safest and most effective method for treating a client with a lumbar disc herniation.

Pilates is best for both easing existing back pain as well as preventing any future back injuries. This is due to the Pilates poses helping to strengthen the muscles that support the spine. Pilates is a particularly good exercise for many people with back pain as it is designed to strengthen the deep abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, which provide support to the back. Pilates has been found to reduce chronic back pain and the disability associated with back pain.

MATWORK Pilates offers something truly special — and it’s where I can teach at my absolute best. When people think “matwork,” they imagine just a mat… but look at this! With 37 different types of small equipment — balls, bands, balance pads, hoops, weights, rollers, and so much more — I can create endlessly varied, targeted, intelligent classes that no single reformer could ever match. Matwork lets me build deeper core strength, real functional movement, and personalised progressions for every body. In a time when reformer studios are appearing everywhere, I’m proud to offer something more creative, more adaptable, and far more personalised. This is Pilates the way it was meant to be: thoughtful, diverse, and truly transformative.
