I grew up in the 90s
He**in chic was the fashion.
Surrounded by images of Kate moss, gwyneth Paltrow, Helena christensen , Cameron Diaz.
All leggy , long limbed.
And then there’s me. Orange with massive shoulders hips, arse and quads.
That trend set me up for absolute failure. I was NEVER gonna be a waif.
It took me 25 years to realise that I am gifted with strength, I can build muscle fairly easily and i am determined no matter what I try and often fail at. I am amazed at what my body can accomplish at almost 47.
I just wish more of you would shift your lens and focus on what your body can be capable of when you’re prepared to work at it. Rather than still dreaming of the way you want to look.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to shed unwanted body fat - whether you have 5lbs to lose or 50. I’m all for feeling your best. But without a deeper goal , when you get there you might realise that it feels a bit empty. Because nobody really cares what you look like except you.
Striving for the wrong body type, or hoping you’ll look like you did at 20 when you’re in your 40s or 50s is going to be a very disappointing journey.
So start off by making a really strong , fit , robust body that will last you your lifetime. Then maybe along the way you might just complement that with making better choices to support your future health.
I’d say that’s something to feel really smug about.
