I had a young child in clinic today, demanding his parents took him to the shops after our session so he could buy one of these Prime Energy Drinks. Apparently his 7 year old classmate has them at his house and he tried one on a playdate.
There seems to be a craze around these drinks following publicity on tiktok!๐ก
A few facts on these drinks:
โก๏ธThese drinks are NOT suitable for children!
โก๏ธ There website states that these drinks are not recommended to children under the age of 18 years old and women who are pregnant or nursing.
โก๏ธ A Prime Energy drink contains 200mg of caffeine per can! 1 cup of coffee contains around 100mg of caffeine.
Please avoid giving these drinks to children and adolescents. High intakes of caffeine can cause raised blood pressure in children, interfere with their sleep, can affect their moods and can increase anxiety. Caffeine is addictive and children can suffer with headaches from caffeine withdrawal.
