β˜€οΈ How much damage has the sun really done to your skin?

In this video, Dr Baiarda explains how sun damage can lead to these skin changes and why it's important not to ignore them.

If you have a patch of skin that isn't healing, is becoming rough or scaly, or has changed in appearance, it's always worth getting it checked by a medical professional.

Early assessment can provide reassurance or help identify whether further investigation or treatment is needed.

Watch Dr Baiarda's advice and remember, looking after your skin today can make all the difference tomorrow.

πŸ“Έ Have your holiday photos revealed something new about your skin?

Sometimes it's only when we look back at photos that we notice a mole has changed, a new mark has appeared, or a patch of skin doesn't look quite right.

If you've spotted a change, don't ignore it. Early assessment can provide reassurance or identify if further investigation is needed.

At Oxona Health, our experienced doctors offer comprehensive skin assessments and mole checks to help you look after your skin with confidence.

Book your appointment today and get any changes checked.

🍷 Did You Know?

If you notice your cheeks becoming red or flushed after drinking alcohol, it could be more than just a temporary reaction. Alcohol is a common trigger for rosacea, a long-term skin condition that can cause persistent redness, visible blood vessels, and sensitivity.

While avoiding triggers can help manage symptoms, effective treatments are available to reduce redness and improve skin appearance.

If you're struggling with facial redness or think you may have rosacea, book a consultation to discuss personalised treatment options and find the right approach for your skin.

✨ Clearer, calmer skin starts with understanding your triggers.

UVA vs UVB: What's the Difference? β˜€οΈ

Not all UV rays are the same. The two main types that reach the Earth's surface are UVA and UVB rays, and each affects your skin differently.

πŸ”Ή UVA Rays

Make up around 95% of the UV radiation that reaches the Earth.
Pe*****te deep into the skin.
Responsible for premature ageing, wrinkles, and age spots.
Can pass through clouds and glass, meaning exposure occurs year-round.

πŸ”Ή UVB Rays

Affect the outer layers of the skin.
The main cause of sunburn.
Play a significant role in the development of skin cancer.
Intensity varies depending on the season, time of day, and location.

Both UVA and UVB rays can damage the skin and increase the risk of skin cancer, which is why daily sun protection is so important.

βœ… Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
βœ… Reapply regularly, especially when outdoors.
βœ… Wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and seek shade during peak UV hours.

Protect your skin today to help keep it healthy for years to come.
