Ok Sorry but just have to share some food inspired yoga jokes....

Why is the pear so good at yoga?
Simply got a great core.

and a sweet one to finish....

Why did the iced ring donut struggle in yoga class?
They couldn’t find their center.

Can't promise I don't share bad jokes in yoga classes but usually simply laughter as get our left and rights muddled or smiling at the person we are facing as went the other right rather than the classic right!

What do you do to help yourself relax? For myself taking a slower exhale helps steady and calm my over active mind. Why not give it a try?

To long at desk then I always choose to lie on floor with feet flat with knees bent up or even better put legs into sofa or onto stool. legs lifted and knees bent allow your lower back to soften into floor. Resting is such a self healing tool.

Its also so if too hot just strip down and be comfortable if that will help you relax more! Though not in yoga class please! If the breathing count feels uncomfortable or at worse stressful, simply reduce the count to your easier timing.

We enjoy a full Savasana or relaxation time in my classes, both the classic Hatha Yoga at 90minutes or in the 75 minute Mindful Yoga sessions. Having moved and limbered your body with yoga poses, and through focused on your breathing, it can feel a much deeper release as we move into lying still and fully relax. Come along and try? I will pop the summer offering in the comments across Oxfordshire and online.

Boring photo but biggest to Manor Flooring who came and sorted our flooring after a slow leak caused the original tiles to lift off! They have such a great team and very kindly came back not charging for their time laying the new tiles. Such a clean job fitting round fiddly corners and awkward access under cupboards.

Just waiting for other half to re-fit the door, kick-boards & skirting. As he’s refuses to do any inside jobs in the summer I’ve a bit of a wait!

Good Luck and hopefully the results you hoped for! This whooping day will recede into the memory banks as lots of opportunities and you have the "school of life" ahead of you!

I remember it being a relief to finally know. I even had to find a pay phone box to call home to find the answer as I had headed off inter-railing. The rest of the summer I had worked shifts in pubs and kitchens to earn enough to go. The real triumph was finally getting my required Maths exam, as failing it three times would have held me back from going to Art School. So career three, I am a yoga teacher, probably the maths is most helpful but still love Art, English and actually I have forgotten my third subject.

Take a deep breath and welcome what lies ahead, it might not be what you planned but life is great at offering different directions when we need it.

Ready to come and try yoga?

Wang Deshun was born in 1936 in Shenyang, China, into poverty so deep he spent his childhood scavenging coal dust to help feed his many siblings. There was nothing about his beginning that predicted a life the world would one day talk about.
He worked as a bus conductor. Then a factory worker. Then, in his twenties, he discovered something that would quietly shape the next sixty years of his life. He fell in love with the stage.
In 1960, at age 24, he became a drama actor. He performed for decades in theaters most of the world had never heard of. He was not famous. He was not rich. He was just consistent.
Then, slowly, he began doing something unusual.
He kept learning.
At 44, when most people are comfortable, he started teaching himself English. At 49, he founded his own pantomime troupe. He became one of the pioneers of Chinese mime, eventually performing at international mime festivals in Germany and Austria. He invented a new art form he called "Model Pantomime" that existed nowhere else in the world.
At 70, he seriously took up fitness for the first time. Not for vanity. Not for attention. He did it because performance art demanded a body that could keep up with his imagination. He swam every morning. He trained every afternoon. Year after year, while nobody was watching.
Then came March 25, 2015.
A designer named Hu Sheguang saw a single photo of him on a friend's phone and asked, "Who is this old man who looks so alive?" He invited Wang to walk China Fashion Week. Wang hesitated. He worried the police would charge him with indecency for going shirtless. Then he said yes anyway.
He was 79 years old. Silver beard. Bare chest. Head held high.
The walk lasted about 30 seconds.
The internet erupted. China called him "the Hottest Grandpa." Fans gave him the nickname "Old Fresh Meat," a playful twist on the slang used for young heartthrob actors. Within days, he was a global phenomenon. The images traveled to every corner of the world.
But what the world was really seeing was not a 30-second walk. It was 30 years of quiet, unglamorous daily discipline finally stepping into the light.
And Wang was not done.
At 65, he had already learned to ride horses. At 78, motorcycles. At 80, he took up DJing. In 2017, Reebok made him the face of their "Be More Human" global campaign. He appeared on magazine covers. He walked Milan. He returned to the runway again at 87, in Shanghai, still shirtless beneath a red floral suit, still smiling.
Then, in August 2021, at the age of 85, he fulfilled a dream he had carried quietly for more than 50 years.
He earned his pilot's license.
He became the oldest person in China to earn his wings.
When asked how he did it, his answer was not about genetics or luck. It was a single question he carries with him every day.
"One way to tell if you are old is to ask yourself: do you dare try something you have never done before? Nature determines your age, but you determine your state of mind."
Here is what his life quietly insists.
Your timeline is a lie. The calendar does not decide when you are finished. You do. The person you could still become is waiting behind the word "too late," and that word was never placed there by nature. It was placed there by you.
At 44, you can still begin.
At 70, you can still build.
At 85, you can still fly.
Wang Deshun is proof.

Have you toe wiggled today? Sounds mad doesn't it but keeping our feet fit just like all the muscles in our body is wise. It caused some giggles as we did Toe Yoga in classes with a rubber band around the big toe joints. Very few of us could fan our toes like a hand spread wide but a few can. Even less of us can tap just your big toe up and down, or isolate the four other toes to tap one at a time. All exercises designed to improve foot flexibility and strength.

The Toe holding balance is quite a challenge but you can work towards it and always use a belt in class. Ultimate balance to challenge strength and flexibility. Too much then just practise tree pose with foot down inside of standing leg or even toes on floor as embrace the wobble.

Toe wiggling and strengthening is aim to help avoid foot deformity and bunions, and importantly to keep stable on our feet so avoiding falls. Lifting up onto your toes and working those legs and ankles too. So do share these with older friends and family as I hate the term "I had a fall". When does it change from "I fell down" to "having a fall", it shouldn't be a given that we fall as age catches up with us!

Enjoy a big Wiggle of your Toes wherever you find yourself? Fancy a class check the August sessions happening in the holiday break this month or book a recording to do whenever and wherever you find yourself.
