🌍 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 | 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

Integrated care can be undermined when funding remains fragmented across health, social care and community services. Separate budgets, payment systems and accountability structures can encourage organisations to focus on their own costs and priorities rather than the person’s whole care journey.

As part of IFIC’s Nine Pillars of Integrated Care Forum Series, this interactive discussion will explore how integrated financing can support integrated, people-centred care and help translate promising approaches into change at scale.

Together, we will consider:

🔹 How can learning from integrated financing experiments be translated into wider system change?
🔹 Does integrating health and social care financing improve outcomes, or simply transfer costs and risks between budgets?
🔹 Which countries and regions are making progress, and what can we learn from their experiences?

The discussion will feature international perspectives from Jacque Mallender and Dr Volker Eric Amelung.

📢 New research in the International Journal of Integrated Care explores how county-level integrated healthcare systems can strengthen primary care and improve health equity.

In their new case study, Zhao et al. examine the development of the Shaxian County Medical Community in Sanming, China.

The paper highlights the role of resource integration, standardised management and organisational innovation in improving service efficiency and strengthening healthcare capacity at community level, with lessons that may be relevant to integrated care systems elsewhere.

📢 New research in the International Journal of Integrated Care explores the challenges of delivering integrated dementia prevention services.

In their new study, Zhang et al. examine dementia prevention services across different levels of care, identifying challenges at system, organisational, professional and clinical levels.

The findings highlight opportunities to strengthen primary prevention, collaboration and service delivery to better support people living with or at risk of dementia.
