Did you know that there is a link between trauma and getting a condition like ME, Fibromyalgia, CFS, Post viral fatigue and long covid?
It's not just us that have noticed this pattern in over 6000 profiling questionnaires.
Many prominent figures such as Gabour Matte have heavily researched this.
Donna Jackson Nakazawa talks about the connection between Childhood Trauma and Health, how this can affect biological mechanisms, particularly in women.
In our Regain your Health series, we help you to join the dots between this and many other factors in your life.
These downstream factors are rarely considered.

This free masterclass will help you to uncover the hidden factors affecting your illness.
It will be held on 26th August
Details to follow in chat box
If you feel stuck or feel you have tried everything then this one is for you. It is also a great one for practitioners to work effectively with clients with exhaustive conditions

"It's not what you look at that matters. It's what you see"
This quote reminds us that your perception, mental lens or focus will determine what we see and ultimately how we think and feel. If we focus solely on our illness, and how bad it makes us feel, what we can't do, then this is what we will see. We encourage you today to think of one thing that you can do, a time in the day you felt better and see how it makes you feel

Name one thing you love to hear and why?

I like to hear the sound of water lapping against the shore. Also birds singing and the wind whistling through the trees. I like to go for a walk to hear these sounds. I don't live near the sea and have to travel to reservoirs etc, so I sit by our pond often to hear the sound of water. When I was unwell, I would listen to guided meditations with sounds and images of these things.

How can you ensure thst you hear the sounds you love often?
Sound can be incredibly calming for the nervous system and help us to feel more connected to the world around us in the here and now. This is important when chronic illness feels overwhelming

In this hot weather, symptoms of ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia and long covid can be exacerbated, as our bodies struggle to regulate homeostasis. Dehydration can lead to further fatigue and brain fog for example. It is especially important that we do what we can to look after ourselves and optimise our health during these times.
When we lack energy, it can be tempting to reach for those energy drinks but are these the best for us?
And how should we drink them?

The BBC article below suggests that there are other drinks that we can drink, such as milk, coconut water and other non sugary drinks we enjoy. Enjoyment is key as we are more likely to stay hydrated. Research shows that drinking slowly and at mealtimes, helps with the absorption of fluids. Also, convenience and ease of preparation is key for those with limited energy.

The Chrysalis Effect team have been working holistically for many years to help consider a holistic bio-psycho-social approach to improving health for people with conditions like ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia and Long Covid. We have helped assimilate information from a wide variety of research areas. More recently we have been looking at how trauma and neuro-divergence can link to these conditions. We have shared information to practitioners and clients to help increase understanding.
