✨ Helping you get the right care, at the right time ✨
Did you know that many common health problems don’t need a GP appointment and can often be treated more quickly through other NHS services?
💊 Pharmacy First
Your local pharmacist can assess and provide treatment for a range of common conditions without you needing to see a GP.
These include:
• Sore throat
• Earache (children aged 1–17 years)
• Sinusitis
• Infected insect bites
• Impetigo
• Shingles
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (women aged 16–64 years)
🏥 Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
You can self-refer to your local Urgent Treatment Centre for urgent, non-life-threatening problems such as:
• Minor injuries (sprains, strains and suspected fractures)
• Minor burns and scalds
• Cuts requiring stitches
• Minor head injuries (without loss of consciousness)
• Eye injuries or sudden eye problems
• Other urgent illnesses that need same-day assessment but are not life-threatening.

💚 To help us keep GP appointments available for patients with more complex medical needs, frail and elderly patients, young infants and people who need ongoing GP care, our team may signpost some patients with minor illnesses to Pharmacy First, the Urgent Treatment Centre or our Same Day Access service where this is the most appropriate option.
Thank you for helping us ensure everyone receives the right care, from the right healthcare professional, at the right time. 💙
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 999 or attend your nearest Emergency Department.
