WHAT IF YOUR PERSONAL TRAINER TAUGHT YOU A GENUINE SKILL, NOT JUST EXERCISES?

If you’re bored with conventional gyms, repetitive workouts or fitness programmes you never stick to, you may need more than another exercise plan.

You may need something that challenges your body, engages your mind and gives you a genuine sense of progress.

That’s why I created the JMA 4-Week Martial A Personal Training Programme.

Over four weeks, you’ll receive private martial arts-based personal training designed around:

• Your current fitness
• Your age and mobility
• Your experience
• Your confidence
• Your personal goals

You can improve your fitness while learning Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, Silat, JKD, Kali, No-Gi Grappling or a personalised combination.

Complete beginners are welcome.

You don’t need to be fit, flexible or experienced before you begin. We start at your level and build from there.

This is more than an ordinary personal training programme. It also includes academy access, mindset support, nutrition guidance, personal accountability and a private confidence and direction session.

GET FIT.
LEARN SKILLS.
BUILD CONFIDENCE.

LISTEN TO THE WAY YOU SPEAK TO YOURSELF.

“I can't do that.”

“I'm useless with money.”

“I've never been confident.”

“I'm too old.”

“I always mess things up.”

“I'm just an anxious person.”

“That's just who I am.”

We say these things so casually that we barely notice them.

But words matter.

Because the words we repeatedly use can influence our thoughts.

Our thoughts influence how we feel.

Our feelings influence our behaviour.

Our behaviour influences our actions.

Our actions create results.

Those results become evidence.

And that evidence can strengthen our beliefs.

Then the loop begins again.

WORDS → THOUGHTS → FEELINGS → BEHAVIOUR → ACTIONS → RESULTS → EVIDENCE → BELIEFS

Imagine repeatedly telling yourself:

“I'm not confident.”

Then an opportunity appears.

You hesitate.

You don't put yourself forward.

Someone else gets the opportunity.

And your brain says:

“See? I told you.”

Evidence.

The belief gets stronger.

So here's today's challenge.

Don't try to change anything yet.

For one day, simply listen.

What do you repeatedly say about yourself?

Write it down.

You might be surprised by what's been playing quietly in the background.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED TO BELIEVE ABOUT YOURSELF?

This is a powerful question.

Because somewhere along the way, experiences can become beliefs.

Maybe you made a mistake and decided:

“I'm not good enough.”

Maybe you were rejected and decided:

“People don't want me.”

Maybe money was always difficult and you started believing:

“People like me never become successful.”

Maybe somebody repeatedly criticised you and eventually their voice became your voice.

Or perhaps you learned:

Don't make a fuss.

Keep everyone happy.

Don't show weakness.

Just get on with it.

Put everyone else first.

None of these beliefs arrived stamped:

THIS IS THE TRUTH.

They developed through experiences, interpretations and repetition.

And here's what fascinates me about the mind.

Once we believe something about ourselves, we can start looking for evidence that proves we're right.

That's one of the reasons Refocus Your Mind is the first foundation of the ReEnergise Method.

Before asking:

“How do I become more confident?”

I want you to ask:

“What have I been believing about myself that's been getting in the way?”

Because sometimes building confidence starts with questioning something you've accepted as true for years.

IT WASN'T ALWAYS ONE BIG THING.

Sometimes people ask:

“How did I get here?”

How did I become so anxious?

When did I lose my confidence?

Why do I overthink everything?

When did I become exhausted all the time?

Why don't I feel like myself anymore?

And we look for one big event to explain it.

But sometimes there isn't one.

Think about reaching your 40s or 50s.

You've accumulated decades of experiences.

Relationships.

Successes.

Failures.

Rejection.

Loss.

Financial pressure.

Work stress.

Parenthood.

Responsibility.

Things people said to you.

Things that didn't work out.

Times you felt embarrassed.

Times you felt you weren't good enough.

And importantly...

the meaning you gave those experiences.

One experience doesn't necessarily define you.

But experiences can accumulate.

And sometimes, without realising it, we start adapting.

We become more cautious.

We stop taking chances.

We worry more.

We trust ourselves less.

We tell ourselves different stories.

And eventually we look in the mirror and think:

“Where did the old me go?”

Maybe a better question is:

What have I experienced — and what have I learned to believe because of it?

That's where change can begin.

You are not just the sum of what happened to you. You still get a say in what happens next.

BUILD CONFIDENCE. TAKE CONTROL. CREATE YOUR FUTURE.

Over the last week, I've talked a lot about what happens when you stop feeling like yourself.

The tiredness.

The overthinking.

The loss of confidence.

Putting yourself last.

Knowing something needs to change — but not really knowing where to start.

That's exactly why I created the John McKean ReEnergise Method.

Because I don't believe we should look at ourselves as separate problems that need fixing.

Mind. Body. Nutrition. Purpose.

They all affect each other.

And when we start strengthening those foundations, we can start changing how we think, how we feel and how we show up in our lives.

You weren't always this unsure of yourself.

That's something worth remembering.

Confidence doesn't always disappear in one dramatic moment.

Sometimes it's chipped away.

A relationship.

A business failure.

A redundancy.

Being criticised.

Putting on weight.

An injury.

Getting something wrong publicly.

Comparing yourself with other people.

A comment somebody made ten years ago that you've never completely forgotten.

One experience probably didn't create the person you are today.

But experiences accumulate.

And eventually:

“I got that wrong”

can become:

“I'm not very good at this.”

Then:

“I'm not good enough.”

That's an important distinction.

One describes an event.

The other becomes an identity.

Part of Refocus Your Mind is learning to separate:

What happened to me?

from:

What did I decide that meant about me?

They're not necessarily the same thing.

Think about something from your past that affected your confidence.

What happened?

And more importantly:

What did you start believing about yourself afterwards?

Your body left work hours ago.

Your mind didn't.

You're sitting watching television…

but you're thinking about tomorrow.

You go to bed…

and suddenly remember something you need to do.

You wake during the night…

and your brain decides 3:17am is the perfect time to solve next week's problems.

Sound familiar?

This is something I see particularly in business owners, high performers and people carrying a lot of responsibility.

You've spent years becoming the person who sorts things.

Makes decisions.

Fixes problems.

Looks after other people.

Anticipates what could go wrong.

That's useful…

until your mind forgets how to stop.

And here's something important:

The thoughts you repeatedly have can influence how you feel.

Those feelings influence your behaviour and actions.

Your actions create results.

Those results can become evidence.

And that evidence strengthens what you believe.

Then the cycle starts again.

Words → Thoughts → Feelings → Behaviour → Actions → Results → Evidence → Beliefs

That's why the first foundation of ReEnergise is:

REFOCUS YOUR MIND.

You don't have to believe every thought that appears in your head.

But first…

you have to start noticing them.

“I'm tired all the time.”

How many times have you said that recently?

And then followed it with:

“It's just my age.”

“I'm busy.”

“That's life.”

“I just need to get on with it.”

But there's a difference between being tired after a busy day and living your life feeling constantly depleted.

You wake up tired.

You rely on caffeine to get going.

You push through work.

Exercise becomes something you'll start again “next week.”

Food becomes whatever's quickest.

By evening, there's nothing left.

Then you sit on the couch, scroll through your phone, go to bed later than you intended…

and repeat.

I'm not saying tiredness is always caused by lifestyle or stress. Persistent or unexplained fatigue should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

But I do think too many of us have accepted running on empty as normal.

Your energy affects everything.

Your patience.

Your decisions.

Your training.

Your relationships.

Your confidence.

Your ability to handle pressure.

Instead of asking:

“How do I push myself harder?”

Maybe start asking:

“What's draining my energy in the first place?”

That's a very different question.
