November Monthly Tip -
I first gave you this tip way back in the early days of my emails, back before I was regularly adding the tips to my website. I’m telling you this by way of an apology, as it is something that everyone should know about!
When I paint your nails, as you know, I always apply 4 layers of polish, each layer has a specific reason for its application. The clear base coat is there to protect your nail from the staining effect of nail polish and to smooth out any bumps or ridges on the surface of the nail plate. Two thin layers of colour ensures an even consistency of colour across the whole surface of the nail. Now the top coat is applied, this clear coat not only gives the polish an extra shine, it extends the length of time the polish will last. Going about your day to day activities; washing your hands, going in and out of your bag, cleaning, life in general will wear away at the surface of your nail polish making it more likely to chip, peel or flake.
So, the actual tip, if you would like to extend the life of your salon manicure, or your own application at home, every couple of days add a fresh layer of top coat to re-protect your varnish.
