Seomra.Paisley recognises stigma still exists around mental health. Research has shown it can actually be stigma or a fear of stigma around mental health which prevents people from accessing services or getting support.
People should not be in a state of crisis before they get support. By normalising taking care of our mental health, we acknowledge the human experience can be messy, imperfect and complicated. We can begin to normalise mental health as something as important as taking care of our teeth, our physical health, and our vehicles.
How often have you felt fear around going to the dentist, getting back to the gym, or if there will be repairs needed when servicing your car? Yet for mental health, there is still a stigma that if we require some care, we are failing in some way. This is a myth. The human experience is varied, and the range of emotions we feel are important tools in understanding it.
