It’s the best way to get a feel for where my journey has taken me to date. https://www.yogeekyoga.com/post/my-journey-so-far

In a nutshell, the only fitness background I ever really had was on a dance floor a

t raves and the London club scene. Spiritual experience came from growing up attending church with the family into my early teens. Work wise predominantly dead end jobs with little or no room for growth and development except, to a point, my last work place to their credit. The birth of my son in my 30’s was the main trigger for change both mentally and physically with Yoga being at the back of my mind for several years before finally attending my first class. There was always an inner voice saying there is more going on somewhere, a knowing of a greater connection but thats not why I started my Yoga journey at the age of 35, although arguably it started the first time it was considered in the quantum state of potentiality. It was fitness though, the need to improve the health of my body, which made me start, plain and simple. The rest simply fell into place around that, physically and psychologically things improved. The physical practice gave me confidence and not just physically but a belief that changes were possible in myself and in my surroundings, my environment. It really is all entangled, as you start pulling on one thread the whole ball starts to unravel releasing all the knots and blockages, what holds you back begins to fall away and things become clearer and clearer as you move through the process. I’m someone who likes facts to support findings and when I was introduced to quantum physics in a battered old work van one cold winters day the voodoo magic of spirituality started to unravel in scientific form right before my eyes. The vedas had been described as the science of life, now modern science was catching up with ancient philosophy how could I not be fascinated. You begin to see connections of how things fit together from little snippets you pick up along lifes journey, from church, through experimentation, through study and through practice things begin to tie into one another. I’ve just started touching on this in a blog which can be found here: https://www.yogeekyoga.com/post/philosophical-science which will build and grow over time and can branch off in any direction at any time! You can find out more in many ways, one of which would be to drop me a message or give me a call sometime, it’ll be great to connect.

Somebody used the phrase “secretly spiritual” the other day.
It’s so secret most of us don’t even realise it 🤪
Strip away the family programming, the education, the societal noise and at your core, that’s what you are.
The question isn’t whether you’re spiritual or not…It’s simply who you are when you get beneath all the stuff that’s been dropped on top of you all your life ❤️

THE STORY BEHIND THE LIGHT ROOM

Sometimes, a space has a story that deserves to continue.

The Light Room Photography Studio was the inspiration of our dear friend, Paul Oldham. Paul created more than just a photography studio. He created a relaxed and welcoming space where people felt comfortable, where connections were made and where people were brought together.

Paul had a genuine passion for people and understood the importance of human connection, community and the positive impact these can have on our mental health.

When the time came to give the space a new purpose, we wanted to preserve that feeling and carry Paul’s values forward.

And so, The Light Room Co-working Space was created.

With five large windows, beautiful natural light and views over the heart of Ripon city centre, we wanted to create more than just an office. More than simply somewhere to put a desk.

We wanted to create a calm, welcoming and professional place where people could come to work, focus and enjoy their surroundings — with mental wellbeing and community at its heart.

A place for people who work from home but sometimes need a change of environment. For freelancers, remote workers and small business owners. Or simply anyone who needs a desk, great Wi-Fi and a quiet place to get things done, while still feeling part of something.

The Light Room Co-working Space, Exhale Yoga Studio and The Karate Dojo all share the same priority: creating a genuine sense of community. And all three can be found under one roof at Jion Studios.

As you look around the building, you’ll see reminders of Paul’s incredible photography displayed throughout — a lasting tribute to our friend and a way of honouring his legacy.

The Light Room. A new space, with a story and spirit that continues.
