I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, consistency will always win out over short-lived intensity. So find a class (or 3!) that you enjoy, will commit and want to come back to. Pilates is great for that for a number of reasons. There’s lots of different ways to move the body so the classes stay interesting; we’re in small groups within a close community which creates a welcoming atmosphere; and Pilates helps with injury prevention so can commit long-term rather than burning out at a higher intensity. “Fancy giving Pilates circuits a go? Here are my top 5 reasons I love this class so much:

1. ELEVATE YOUR HEART RATE: Circuit training is an excellent way to elevate your heart rate and maintain it at a high level throughout the entire workout. This is achieved through short rest periods, which keep the intensity up.

2. WHOLE BODY WORKOUT: Circuit training allows you to target large muscle groups together, incorporating a mix of upper body, lower body, and whole-body exercises.

3. IMPROVE OVERALL FITNESS: Improves cardiovascular fitness but also enhances overall muscle strength and endurance.

4. IT’S GOOD FOR YOUR BONES: Incorporating weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercises within your circuit routine is particularly beneficial for improving bone density, making it a well-rounded and effective workout regimen.

Clocks have changed and it’s suddenly feeling a lot darker. Here’s my top tips to keep moving (with me!) through the winter months.
1. Book in to the same class each time each week so it becomes part of your routine (my block bookings are also cheaper per class than PAYG)
2. Plan to go to class with a friend, that way you can motivate each other!
3. Keep in mind that movement can help to support your immune system, helping keep bugs at bay.
4. If really do t feel like leaving the comfort of your own home, join my class via zoom instead.

Personally I am happy to invite our eight legged friend into my home , they keep the insect population in check which helps with spread of disease. But if you are not a fan, please take a scoop of conkers and place them around your home as they said to be deterrent for spiders, which I think is an old wives tale but they look pretty anyway.
