Footpath 5 Wants Its Freedom — Come Help Us Break It Out!

Look at this poor right of way…
Blocked in. Overgrown. Trapped.
Just sitting there like, “Hello? I used to be a road, thank you very much. I carried farmers, families and brickworkers before half of you were born. Can someone let me out?”

Well… yes. Yes we can.

On Saturday 20 June, 10–12pm, Trailblazers are heading out to rescue Footpath 5 — the old road to the di**le and the historic route to the clay/brickworks before the estate arrived. Nature’s been trying to kidnap it, and we’re staging a full‑scale community jailbreak.

Why go?
Because honestly… got anything better to do?
Didn’t think so.

✨ Fresh air
✨ Friendly people
✨ Feel‑good vibes
✨ A bit of history
✨ A path future generations will thank you for
✨ And you can do as much or as little as you like

No kit. No experience. No pressure.
Just turn up, have a laugh, and help a forgotten footpath escape from the undergrowth.

And if you can’t make this one, we’re out every third Saturday of the month, 10–12pm around Pencoed. You’re always welcome.

Let’s set this path free.

Fresh Air, Good Company, Real Impact

A brilliant morning at Parc Slip for the Trailblazers — 11 of us out enjoying the sunshine and clearing around 250 m² of Himalayan balsam. Everyone worked at their own pace, and there was a real sense of achievement by the end.

Duncan, the Wildlife Trust’s Reserves Manager, shared some cracking facts along the way — including that a single balsam plant can produce up to 800 seeds, and the pods can fire them about 7 metres. No wonder it spreads.

Good company, good wellbeing, and another small but meaningful difference made for our wider community.

The forecast is looking great — dry, bright, and mild, ideal for a couple of hours outdoors making a real difference for local nature.

All welcome. Stay for the full session or drop in when you can.
Parking can be tight, so please car share if possible.
