When life hits weird. Hari is 7 next month. He has been toilet training the past few weeks. He’s doing sooooo well. We are so proud of how he’s adapted to the change. He still needs prompting but he is getting there. Tedi. Tedi is 2 at the end of the month and today Tedi did a we**ee on the toilet. He is so observant and wants to copy everyone with everything. It’s just all so weird. In many aspects it’s like he’s older than the twins. And it comes with such a mixture of pride, happiness, relief, sadness. The lot. And just on a side note - who can be assed toilet training 2 kids at the same time ?! Not me. 🥴😂

Do u know what’s weird…

Having a NORMAL toddler.

Yep I said it, normal. Cos being real… the twins aren’t fu***ng normal. It doesn’t feel insulting or wrong to say it. Cos they aren’t. They don’t do normal stuff. They never have. None of their milestones were achieved at a ‘normal’ time. None of their behaviours are typically ‘normal’ in comparison to their peers.

I’m not one to beat about the bush. Doesn’t offend me when people use the word ‘normal’.

Meanwhile this naughty baby of mine. He’s soooo in to everything. He observes, watches, copies. Gets excited to see people. Oh and he’s a complete as***le.

But as frustrating as he can be a lot of the time… it also comes with relief. Relief that he’s observant. Relief that he gets excited to see people. Relief that I can not do ANYTHING without him bloody watching me and wanting to help. Relief that he is doing the normal naughty stuff toddlers do!

Ok I won’t be surprised if they turn around in a few years time and want him assessed for adhd. In fact I’ll eat my hat if they don’t. But my good god I’ll take it if it’s without the side of autism and the struggles that it brings the twins.

Honestly they should have all been sleeping but hearing the unusual sound of Hari & Tedi giggling together made me curious so I went to inspect and nearly cried 🥹😭 when positive interactions are rare it makes them sooooo much more special!

Absolutely fabulous staff member at the shop in going the extra mile with Hari and allowing him to help her scan the items through! Hari is autistic and doesn’t always understand the social rules & norms. Off he went straight behind the till an our initial ‘oh no’ turned into such a lovely interaction for him ❤️

Recorded this this morning trying to show how Hari watches tv. And why he’s rarely allowed the remote of the main tv! Only when watching it back did I notice the other aspects that represent my sh*tshow life 🤣

Last night was meltdowns after the beloved bracelet he’d won in a 2p machine and worn daily since October SNAPPED. Finally managed to persuade him we could go and make a new one. Luckily mama has thousands of beads in the salon! He was THRILLED. My baby
