🍞 Baking at Courtlands! 🍞

Our residents have been busy putting those ripe bananas to very good use and making some delicious homemade banana bread!

There was plenty of mixing, measuring and teamwork going on – and, of course, the most important job of all… deciding who gets to taste it first! 😋

Baking is always a lovely activity here at Courtlands. As well as being great fun, it brings back memories, encourages conversation and gives everyone the chance to get involved. And you really can't beat the smell of freshly baked banana bread filling the home! ❤️

As we don't share photographs of our residents on Facebook, our trusty crochet residents have stepped in once again to recreate the action! 🧶😂 We think they're becoming quite comfortable in their new roles!

Well done everyone – now, who's putting the kettle on? ☕🍌🍞

☕💜 Tomorrow’s the day – our very first Memory Café at Courtlands! 💜☕

We’re getting everything ready and are really looking forward to opening our doors tomorrow, Friday 4th September, from 2:00pm–4:00pm for our first Memory Café.

And we have something extra special planned for our first afternoon… 🎶

🎙️ There will be live music by Vince Hall Singing the wonderful songs of Frank Sinatra! 🎶

So come along, enjoy a cuppa and some treats, have a chat, share some memories and enjoy some familiar music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There may even be a little singing along! ☕🍰🎵

Our Memory Café is for anyone living with memory loss, dementia, or simply feeling a little forgetful, together with their family, friends and carers.

💜 You don’t need to be a resident of Courtlands – everyone is welcome.

We are really looking forward to opening our doors at Courtlands this Friday 4th September for the first of our new Memory Café afternoons.

Our Memory Café is a warm and welcoming space for anyone living with memory loss, dementia, or simply feeling a little forgetful, together with their family, friends and carers.

Come along for a cuppa and some treats, enjoy relaxed activities and conversation, share stories and memories, and meet some new faces. 🫖🍰💬

'Our residents were very excited to board a minibus the week and enjoy a lovely scenic drive through Hayle and onto the North Cliffs ending up at Portreath beach. The views were stunning!
On the way back we stopped for a refreshing ice cream at Hells Mouth Cafe. This was all made possible by, the very generous, Porthleven Companions and minibus driver Tony who is absolutely fantastic and we cannot thank him enough 😊' Porthleven Companions

Today we celebrate a true national treasure and one of the greatest voices for our planet — Sir David Attenborough on his 100th birthday.

For generations, he has inspired millions with his wisdom, kindness, and extraordinary storytelling, bringing the wonders of nature into our homes and reminding us of the importance of protecting the world we share.

Thank you, Sir David, for a lifetime dedicated to education, conservation, and wonder.
