The Health and Safety Executive is supporting Farm Safety Week 2026 in the UK to help improve farm safety culture and transform the industry's 'poor health and safety record.'

It comes as the latest figures for work-related fatalities in Great Britain revealed that agriculture continues to be the industry sector with the highest rate of fatal injuries, with 29 people killed, including 7 members of the public, 3 of whom were children.

It's been confirmed, after a year-long campaign, that Ofsted has scrapped 'offensive' guidance from its training manual for inspectors which linked autism and extremism.

The guidance relating to the Prevent strategy was described by campaigners as 'unfounded, 'discriminatory' and 'clumsy' when it was highlighted last year.

The latest LeDeR reveals that more than 50% of adults with a learning disability die before they reach the age of 65.

The annual Learning from Lives and Deaths – people with a learning disability and autistic people report (LeDeR) was published on Monday 13th July and reviewed deaths recorded between 2021 and 2024.

It found that, in 2024, adults with a learning disability died, on average, 19 years younger than those in the general population.

The government has said these figures are "unacceptable" and that it is committed to improving care for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

The Health and Safety Executive recently published statistics on work-related fatalities in Great Britain during 2025-26.

The statistics, and new analysis comparing trends across multiple countries worldwide, demonstrate that Britain continues to be one of the safest places to work in the world.

However, the HSE warns that each number still represents a loved one lost, and emphasises the need to continue to prioritise workplace health, safety and wellbeing.
