Buckland Care Willow Bank Residential Home 'Memory Walk 2026' Alzheimer's Society.

When: THIS SATURDAY | 12th September 2026
Starting location: Birmingham, Sutton Park, 11.00am

The meeting point and route
Birmingham Memory Walk will start and finish in the event site at the Jamboree Stone which is located near the centre of the park. Please note, this area is on grass. Find us using the postcode B74 3EW, alternatively enter ///digs.bricks.smooth into the What3Words App.

We recommend that anyone participating in Memory Walk arrives at the event site from 10am. This allows time to take part in the pre-walk activities such as the Zumba warm-up and also allows time for possible delays caused by traffic and public transport.

There are two routes to choose from on the day of Memory Walk.

The shorter 3.5km route is a gentle stroll around the park which is suitable for Memory Walkers of all ages. This route is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs with assistance due to a hill along the route.

The longer 5km route is a little more challenging, and will take you around the lakeside, moors and woodlands. The route has some uneven and muddy terrain. This route is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs due to the nature of the pathways.

Please note the route and distance is subject to change, and suitable footwear is recommended.

Eyes down, dabbers at the ready, and prepare for glory! πŸͺ©πŸŽΆ

Taking a delightful stroll down memory lane to a simpler era, specifically, the blissful, unbridled chapter of BIJH (Before Ian James Hardman, because let’s be honest, life was a bit more peaceful then! πŸ€«πŸ˜‚).

Yesterday morning, our social calendar got an absolute turbo-boost of joy when the magnificent Adam graced us with his presence to host a high-stakes, rhythm-infused showdown known to all as 'Singo Bingo'.

If you’ve never experienced the chaotic beauty of "name that tune and dab that ticket," let me paint you a picture: it’s part musicology, part speed-dabbling, and part psychological warfare over whether that faint wiggle on someone's card constitutes a legitimate line or just a rogue smudge of tea.

Adam had everyone sweating over the musical decades, shouting out guesses, and debating the eternal, existential questions of the universe: Is it a line? Is it a full house?!

There was enough infectious laughter, dodgy vocal harmonies, and triumphant roars to power a small village for a week. There’s truly nothing quite like the collective thrill of screaming "HOUSE!", even if half the time nobody is entirely sure which songs were actual 'dabs'.

A massive, standing-ovation-level thank you to Adam for bringing the rhythm, the tunes, and an unforgettable mountain of fun. See you soon! 🎀✨

Ian Hardman was officially in the house yesterday, people! 🏠🎀 Absolute fan favourite back at it, complete with a massive shoutout wishing a very Happy Birthday to our amazing, dancing diva, Christine! πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ

Though let's be real... yesterday he also decided to boldly branch out straight into Ed Sheeran territory. 🎸 Acoustic loop pedal realness? Absolutely.

Is it brave? Extremely. Does it somehow, miraculously, totally work? You bet it does. 🎢✨

Look, as the wise folks say when dealing with the absolute rollercoaster of memory loss and dementia: "Dementia may steal the memories, but it can't touch the music in your soul." πŸ§ πŸ’œ

Moral of the story? Never knock a bold career pivot. Don't be afraid to drop the beat (or forget where you put your guitar pick halfway through the chorus).

Buckland Care Willow Bank House Expands Community Dementia Support to Evesham & District Meeting Centre

PERSHORE, WORCESTERSHIRE β€” Willow Bank House Care Home has expanded its community outreach efforts, partnering with the Evesham & District Meeting Centre over the past 3 weeks to deliver specialist Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) sessions for individuals living with dementia at home.

Paul Chambers , Dementia and Wellbeing Lead at Willow Bank House, has been visiting the centre, which currently operates three days a week to support vulnerable local residents and their family caregivers, to facilitate and deliver a series of themed, personalised CST sessions across all three of the centre's groups.

The initiative focuses on fostering connection, shared memories, and engagement through structured conversation. Visits took place throughout August, with the final session of the current series happening today, Thursday, 3rd September.

Building strong relationships and trust with families navigating dementia care within their own homes remains a core priority for the outreach initiative, ensuring families know where to turn when they need guidance and support.

"Hearing their clients' rich life stories has been a true highlight of the week," said Paul Chambers. "Their working lives, lunchtime frolics, travel, and unique experiences were deeply moving. Building those connections through conversation was both fascinating and inspiring."

"Moments like these remind us how powerful connection, shared laughter, and community support really are. A massive thank you to all the staff and members for such a warm welcome, with a special shout-out to the marvellous team: Tracey, Sally, Colette, Carolyn, and Debbie."

Oh, and a very special happy birthday to Tracey who celebrates her birthday on Friday 4th September. Many happy returns from all the teram and residents at Williow Bank.

Willow Bank House expressed its appreciation to the team at the Evesham & District Meeting Centre - Supporting Better Lives With Dementia for their ongoing advocacy for community-based dementia care and the exceptional support they provide.
