Last Saturday our Business Manager Hayley enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the first NAFD Scotland Education Day, hosted at Westerleigh East Lothian Crematorium.

Attendees heard insightful presentations from Julian Atkinson and Helen Chandler on alkaline hydrolysis and its introduction to Scotland, NAFD CEO Andrew Judd on developments across the funeral profession, and Jeremy Balfour MSP, Chair of the All-Party Group for Funerals and Bereavement. Each session was followed by engaging Q&As and valuable discussion.

The event also provided a great opportunity to network with colleagues and friends, explore the impressive new East Lothian Crematorium, experience its state-of-the-art immersive technology, and meet sponsors Coleman Milne and JC Atkinson.

As our profession continues to evolve, events like these are invaluable in helping funeral professionals stay informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, legislative changes, and new approaches to serving families.

Continuing professional development and collaboration with colleagues across the sector are essential to maintaining the highest standards of care and service.

Our Funeral Director Will and Funeral Service Operative Debbie recently had the privilege of attending the Scottish International Embalming and Post Mortem Reconstruction Conference at the University of St Andrews.

This year’s theme, “Passionately Advancing Embalming Excellence Through Education and Innovation,” highlighted the importance of ongoing learning, professional growth, and striving for excellence in the care we provide to families.

The conference brought together embalmers, student practitioners, funeral professionals, and experts from related fields to share knowledge, explore new techniques, discuss detailed case studies, and examine the latest developments within our profession.

It was a valuable opportunity to learn from colleagues, exchange ideas, and gain insights that will help support the highest standards of care, dignity, and service for the families we serve.

We are grateful to everyone involved in organising and contributing to such an informative and inspiring event.
