LOOKING TO BORROW – EARLY 1900s DAIRY EQUIPMENT 🥛🐄
I’m looking for some traditional dairy items to borrow for a hands-on activity exploring milk and dairy life in Perthshire in the early 1900s.
I’m particularly interested in anything connected with milking, cream, butter and cheese making, including:
🥛 Old milk pails, milk cans, strainers, jugs or measures
🧈 Butter churns, butter paddles/hands, butter moulds or stamps
🧀 Cheese moulds/hoops, presses, cheese cloths or other cheese-making equipment
🥛 Cream skimmers, cream separators or dairy bowls
⚖️ Old scales and weights used for dairy produce
🪵 Wooden dairy utensils
📷 Old photographs of dairy work, farms, milkmaids or cheese/butter making
📖 Old recipe books, farm diaries or family records mentioning dairy work
🍶 Old milk bottles, cream pots or dairy containers
I’m particularly interested in items from Perthshire or surrounding areas, and would love anything that has a family story or local connection attached to it.
They don’t need to be perfect or museum-quality – well-used household/farm items are exactly what I’m looking for!
