✨ We are delighted to share some of the professional photos from our recent Grand Opening celebrations! ✨

What an unforgettable day as we welcomed residents, families, colleagues and the local community for an afternoon filled with entertainment, laughter and celebration. ☀️💙

The celebrations officially began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Stephen Leckie, Lord-Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross, joined by Councillor Chris Ahern, marking the official opening of Kingfisher House and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our home.

Built on the site of the former Hillside Hospital, the occasion was made even more special as former nurses returned to share treasured memories and photographs, reflecting on the incredible community spirit that once filled the hospital. They spoke about how wonderful it is to see care brought back to such a special place once again.

From Alba Therapy Ponies and spectacular fire performances by Beelieve Circus to live music, a traditional Scottish piper and sunshine in the gardens, there was something for everyone to enjoy! 🐴🔥🎶

One of the day's biggest highlights was watching our very first resident, Frances Kennedy, cut the celebration cake alongside her daughter and granddaughter - using the Lord-Lieutenant's ceremonial sword instead of a traditional cake knife! ⚔️🎂

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this very special milestone and helped make the day one to remember. Here's to many more years of creating a warm, caring home at the heart of the Perth community. ❤️

It’s been all fun and games here at Kingfisher House!

Over the last few days, we have been keeping fit and active during our weekly morning movement sessions with Robert. From rowing boats and flying planes over Scone Airport to hopping like bunnies, residents always enjoy taking part, and these sessions have quickly become a favourite part of the week.

Residents have also been staying active with our large games, including darts, hoop toss and dominoes. Later in the week, everyone enjoyed joining in with a competitive game of curling, which brought residents together and gave new friendships the chance to blossom. It was lovely to see new residents settling into the Kingfisher House family, and we are delighted to welcome them.

What a wonderful time we had earlier this week, filled with fun, laughter and friendship, as we welcomed the children from Paddington Nursery, along with Lorraine and the ladies from the assisted living community.
Our activity with Paddington was inspired by Bear’s Great Adventure, with residents and children working side by side to create their very own moving bears. It was lovely to see everyone helping each other, sharing ideas and bringing their bears to life.
We were also delighted to be joined by Lorraine and the ladies from assisted living for a lively game of ABBA Bingo! Our bingo afternoons are always a firm favourite, especially when music and dancing are involved. The friendships formed between both are truly special, and we always look forward to welcoming the ladies back each month.
Next month, we’ll be bringing out the putters, darts and boccia for a games afternoon at Kingfisher House gardens (fingers crossed for some lovely weather!)

Kingfisher House Care Home is delighted to invite you to our Recruitment Open Day on Thursday 23rd July, between 12:00pm and 7:00pm.

As we continue to grow and prepare to open new communities within our home, we are expanding our team and looking for caring, compassionate and dedicated individuals to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a modern, purpose built care home and help shape the next stage of our journey.

We are currently recruiting for:

Care Assistants – £13.60 per hour, with Dayshift, Nightshift and Twilight (7:00pm to 11:00pm) opportunities available. A £500 Welcome Bonus is available for contracted hours following the successful completion of your 3 month probation.

Registered Nurses (RGN/RMN) – £22.36 to £23.40 per hour, with full time, part time and bank opportunities available across days and nights.

Housekeeping Assistant – £12.71 per hour, full time.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming visits from our local nursery and Home-Start Parent and Toddler Nurture Group, creating some truly special moments together

Our sessions were filled with laughter and singing, alongside a variety of large-scale games, including our ever-popular giant parachute and balloon play 🎈

To celebrate National Baking Day, we made delicious top hat cupcakes, and got creative with sensory art using bubble wrap attached to jars to print beautiful summer hydrangea flowers

We’ve also been enjoying time with our Beaver and Cub groups. Earlier this spring, we worked together to plant bulbs and created bird feeders, helping to bring a little more nature into our garden 🐦🌱

These visits are always so meaningful, bringing people together to share experiences, creativity, and plenty of smiles. We’re already looking forward to the next one! 😊

✨ What a delightful afternoon at the tea party on Thursday! ☕

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, great conversations, and of course, plenty of delicious tea and treats, all thanks to our wonderful and hard-working kitchen team! 🍰👏

We were also so lucky to have the Blaire Ukes providing fantastic entertainment that had everyone wanting to get up and dance on their feet! 💃

A heartfelt thank you to our lovely sister home, Oakbank for joining our par-tea and making it even more memorable!

Can’t wait for the next Par-Tea. 🎉

VE day celebration

On Friday at Kingfisher House Care Home, we came together to celebrate VE Day with both joy and remembrance.

We started the morning by baking and decorating delicious carrot cake cupcakes with our residents. During the war, sweet treats were a rare luxury, so recipes such as carrot cake were often used as a substitute. It was lovely to recreate these moments together and reflect on the importance of making the most of simple pleasures during difficult times.

Later in the afternoon, residents gathered to remember and honour those involved in VE Day. We sang along to some much-loved wartime songs including We’ll Meet Again, The White Cliffs of Dover, and Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye. We then held a moment of silence to pay our respects to the brave soldiers who lost their lives during the war.

The songs were so popular amongst our residents that the singalong continued into the following morning during our craft session, bringing even more smiles, memories, and laughter to everyone involved.

To finish our celebrations, everyone enjoyed the homemade cakes baked earlier in the day, alongside a lovely cup of tea and a fun VE Day quiz and puzzles.

It was an emotional, meaningful, and enjoyable day for all involved, filled with reflection, togetherness, and treasured memories.
