Hello, I’m Jo White

I’m a psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist based in Peterborough, and I’m passionate about helping women, children, and teens feel calmer, more confident, and better equipped to navigate life’s ups and downs. My path into therapy grew from both personal experience and professional curiosity. Before training as a therapist, I spent many years as a teacher, a role I loved

for its connection, creativity, and the chance to make a difference. But during that time, I also saw how often people carried quiet struggles beneath the surface: anxiety, exhaustion, self-doubt, and a sense of never quite feeling enough. I recognised some of those feelings in myself, too, especially through my own journey into motherhood and the challenges that came with it. That’s what inspired me to retrain and build a career where I could support people in a deeper way, helping them understand their minds, reduce overwhelm, and rediscover the strengths they already hold within. Today, through solution-focused hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, I work with clients experiencing a wide range of challenges, from stress, anxiety, burnout, and low confidence to life transitions such as perimenopause, parenthood, or loss. My approach is gentle but forward-looking; we won’t spend endless time unpicking the past, but instead focus on what’s possible and how to move towards it. Clients often tell me that our sessions feel like a breath of fresh air, a safe, kind space where they can finally relax, make sense of things, and start to feel hopeful again. I bring warmth, empathy, and humour to my work, and I genuinely care about the people I support. Outside of my therapy room, I’m happiest walking in nature, spending time with my family, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea after a busy day. These small moments of stillness remind me why I love this work so much, because finding calm, even in the middle of life’s noise, is possible for all of us. Tune yourself into the birds

Anyone else loving the merlin app? Like pokemon for grown ups!

Apparently you can find yourself feeling more calm and relaxed when you tune into bird song, it helps the body and mind feel safe. Have you noticed that? Try it, it's one of my favourite ways to come back to the moment, maybe it will work for you too.

Life can be so busy and hectic we need to find these moments. If you feel you need something a little more, an hour a week of hypnotherapy for a short time can be useful in helping you find your stability and confidence in yourself again.

▫️1.1 sessions for children and teens 6 years upwards. Helping to manage worries, build confidence and resilience. Gentle, positive sessions that help develop healthy coping tools.

▫️1.1 Study Calm sessions, designed to help children and teens manage exam stress and anxiety, improve focus and feel more confident approaching revision and test days.

▫️Parent support sessions, if your child is struggling with anxiety or low confidence, but you're not sure they're ready for therapy, a 1.1 parent session can be a great place to start. We'll chat through what's happening and develop some calm, practical ways for you to support your child at home.

It sounds strange, but I love working with trauma, because the transformation is often so impactful. And the wonderful thing about hypnotherapy for traumatic experiences is that it is gentle, we go at your speed and you don't have to spend hours telling me about the traumatic events in depth.
