New Chapter at inSpiral Garden Sanctuary: Bridging 30 Years of Practice
For those who have followed my professional journey over the last three decades, you know that my work as an Integrative Trauma Psychotherapist, Ecotherapist and Supervisor has always been rooted in a deep respect for the human psyche and its capacity for healing. Today, I am sharing a significant evolution in my practice. After 30 years of clinical experience and 6 years as an EMDR Practitioner, I am formally distilling these thousands of hours into a pioneering new model: inSpiral Ecosystemic EMDR™.
What is shifting? While my commitment to neurodivergent-affirming practice and trauma recovery remains at the core, I am moving beyond the traditional "four walls" of clinical therapy. My work now lives at the intersection of applied neuroscience and ancestral wisdom.
The Integration: A Multi-Sensory Approach
I am currently feasibility testing the augmentation of EMDR protocols, specifically for CPTSD and Neurodivergent clients. This involves unboxing and integrating new multimodal technology (like the EMDR Kit) with the organic "Bio-Kit" of my garden sanctuary, as well as working in wilder nature settings.
The Celtic Tree Wheel:
I am bridging modern clinical rigour with ancient tradition, using the seasonal map of the Celtic Tree Wheel to guide the psyche through its healing journey.
Ecological Reciprocity:
This is not just therapy in nature, but therapy with nature. From my garden studio to local reserves like Castor Hanglands and Holme Fen, we use "Ecological Anchors" to turn cognitive processing into a lived, metabolic experience of safety. We explore the effectiveness of embodied nature based multimodal bilateral stimulation and optic flow to support the 8 phases of EMDR protocol. This shift represents the culmination of my life’s work - a synthesis where the natural world is no longer just a backdrop, but a vital, respected partner in the therapeutic process. I look forward to sharing more of this research and practice with you all as the feasibility research study unfolds. So far, it has been an amazing journey of synchronicity, creative flow and learning from plants, trees, butterflies and all manner of nature persons, as well as from my clients and colleagues. Very energising.
I’m very open to networking and collaborating. So please do drop me a line if you would like to talk more and mutually support one another in this work.
