Little Miracles is a parent led support group for families with children that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions. We run a purpose built centre at The Spinney, Hartwell Way, Ravensthorpe, Peterborough with daily support, play and advice sessions it would be great to see you there! The centre was built by DIY SOS and the community as part of the Children in Need millio

💜 Could you spare 4–6 hours a week to help Little Miracles?

We’re looking for an Admin Volunteer to join our team and help with some of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Little Miracles running.

You don’t need to be an admin expert or have loads of experience, just a little time, a willingness to help and a good eye for detail can make a real difference. 🌈

As an Admin Volunteer, you’ll be helping us with our day-to-day administrative tasks, giving our team some much-needed support and helping us spend more time doing what matters most: supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions.

If you have 4–6 hours a week to give and would like to be part of our Little Miracles team, we’d love to hear from you. 💛

If you’re a parent or carer filling in a DLA form and wondering where on earth to start… you’re not alone. 💜

We know how overwhelming the DLA application can feel. It’s long, detailed and asks you to focus on some of the hardest parts of your child’s day.

And sometimes it can be difficult to know exactly what to include, how to explain your child’s needs or what evidence you should provide.

Something as simple as a ramp can make a huge difference. 💜

Over three days, an amazing team of contractors, volunteers and supply chain partners came together at our Peterborough centre to make our counselling pods safer and more accessible for the families who use them.

They installed new ramps and handrails, repaired decking and worked on the surrounding garden areas, giving their time, skills and resources to create something that families will benefit from for years to come.

And what a team effort it was,

💜 28 volunteers
💜 234 hours of volunteering
💜 £4,588.60 worth of donated materials, equipment and contractor support
💜 £12,272.98 total estimated project value

But behind those numbers are real families.

For children and young people who use wheelchairs or have mobility needs, being able to access our counselling pods more safely and independently can make a huge difference.

One parent told us:

“For our family, wheelchair access into the counselling pods gives our daughter the freedom to access her counselling independently and safely, helping her to build confidence”

That’s what this project is really about. ❤️

A huge thank you to GRAHAM Civils, CivilWise and TripodCrest Group for being such a big part of making this happen, and to everyone who gave their time, skills and hard work over the three days.

We’re so grateful to everyone who helped turn an idea into something that will make a lasting difference to the families who come through our doors. 🌈

For every 100 places we offer, around 500 families come forward.

That’s the reality we’re facing at Little Miracles.

During the school holidays, our sessions can fill within minutes. We know how much these places mean to families, somewhere their child can have fun, be themselves and simply enjoy being a child, while parents and carers know they’re somewhere safe where they're understood. 🌈

But there are far more families who need us than we currently have space for.

Laura, Logan's mum said:

💬 “I feel comfortable, I feel safe here. We don't feel judged at all and we can just be ourselves.”

And that’s exactly what we want Little Miracles to be.

A place where families feel safe, where children are seen for who they are, not just the support they need, a place where families know they belong. 💜

💜 You shouldn't have to pay for help applying for EHCP, DLA or PIP.

We’ve noticed more organisations offering paid support to families applying for things like an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payment (PIP).

And we know that these applications can feel overwhelming. There’s a lot of paperwork, lots of questions and sometimes it’s hard to know whether you’re saying the “right” thing, but you don’t need to pay someone to help you through it.

We’ve put together an advice blog with some guidance on applying for the support your family may be entitled to, without adding another cost to your family.

If you’re currently going through an EHCP, DLA or PIP application, have a read. And if you know another parent who might find it useful, please share it with them. 💛

💙 A huge Little Miracles thank you to our amazing fundraiser, Taylor! 🌈

At just 15 years old (and only 14 when she took on the challenge!), Taylor completed the GEAR 10K in King's Lynn to raise money for Little Miracles, despite picking up an injury before race day. 🏃‍♀️💪

Taylor chose to support Little Miracles because her cousin attends our Peterborough branch, she also came in with her family to drop off the money she'd raised and have a tour of our centre.

We are so incredibly proud of you, Taylor!

Your determination, kindness and generosity at such a young age are truly inspiring. Every pound you've raised will help us continue supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions. 💛

Thank you for believing in what we do and for making such a difference. You should be so proud of yourself, we certainly are! 🌟

💙 Thank You Friday 💙

We'd like to say a huge thank you to the wonderful team at Bauer Media for spending the day volunteering at our Peterborough centre last week. 🌈

They got stuck into all sorts of jobs to help freshen up our outdoor space, including scraping and cleaning pathways, sweeping leaves, repainting our colourful play equipment, building an outdoor playhouse and giving our sensory play areas some much-needed TLC. 🧹🎨🌿

Thanks to their hard work, our outdoor space is looking brighter, safer and ready for even more adventures, messy play and special memories for the families who visit us every week. 💛

Corporate volunteering days like this make such a difference. Not only do they help us keep our centres looking their best, but they also mean we can focus more of our resources on supporting families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions.
