North West Anglia Pathology Services Pathology (also known as Laboratory Medicine) is the study of the nature of disease and its causes, development, processes and consequences.

Pathology is a key clinical service and around 70% of NHS diagnoses rely upon it. The Pathology facility at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) is an integral part of the Cancer & Diagnostics Clinical Directorate. It houses some of the most up to date testing equipment within the United Kingdom, receiving around 1.5 million samples per year and performing 5 million tests in support of community heal

thcare and public health needs within Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire as well as hospital care at Peterborough and Stamford. The Pathology department is divided into a number of specialist departments:

Biochemistry and Immunology
Cellular Pathology (Cytology and Histopathology)
Haematology / Blood Transfusion
Microbiology

Our staff are helping prevent local families from going hungry this Winter, by donating 1,000 kilos of food items and basic necessities, such as toiletries, to Peterborough's foodbank.

'A Hamper from Santa' was part of the Trust's Christmas campaign, which focused on giving back to our patients, visitors and the local community.

Over 50 departments from across Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals got involved, donating around 1,500 kilos of food in total.

Chief Executive, Caroline Walker said: "We encourage our staff to live our Trust values and they truly did, working together to ensure that those using the foodbank this winter would have access to food and basic necessities as well as some festive treats. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved and donated to the campaign - your help will make a big difference to families struggling this Christmas.”
