Madi, from Inspired To Change Tunbridge Wells is sharing a series of posts explaining what makes the small positive actions, interactions and thoughts on September's wellbeing bingo board so powerful.

Here she explains why visiualising a successful month is helpful ...

Are you taking part in our wellbeing bingo this month?

Tiny Tools, Big Brain Benefits

This week's tool is:

🧠Visualise a successful month🧠

What if you could give your brain a little rehearsal for the month you want to have?

Visualisation isn't simply daydreaming about everything going perfectly. When you vividly imagine an experience, your brain can activate many of the same areas involved in actually doing it.

This is one of the reasons we use positive visualisation regularly in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

When you repeatedly imagine yourself responding differently, coping well, or moving towards something you want, you're repeatedly activating the neural pathways associated with those thoughts and responses. The more those pathways are activated, the more familiar they can become.

So this week, try visualising a successful month ahead. What would you be doing? How would you be feeling? How would you respond when things don't go quite to plan?

Give your brain something positive to practise.

"Not every day is a good day but there’s something good in every day"

One of the first things we ask our clients to do is to start making a note of what has been good each day.

It doesn't have to be anything big. Just the small things we notice like a favourite song on the radio, a smile, a compliment...

It may seem like a small, insignificant thing to do but it helps our brain to put our challenges in context, to see a more balanced view of our days.

And the science shows us that doing this simple of task of looking for one good thing each day, actively changes the information our brain is choosing to show us.

Why not give it a go and notice the difference it makes to how you view your days?

Teaching is one of the most rewarding jobs there is... but it's also one of the most demanding.

If you've noticed that you've been ending each day exhausted, feeling like you're running on empty, you're not alone. And more importantly – it doesn't have to stay that way.

In our recent blog, we explore why teacher burnout happens, what it's doing to your brain, and simple, practical ways to reduce stress and start feeling more like yourself again.

Are you caring for a loved one with dementia?

Dementia is one of the fastest growing conditions in the world today. There are around 50 million people who have been diagnosed with dementia worldwide with Alzheimer’s being the most common.

Dementia does not only affect the person diagnosed with the condition, but it has a profound effect on their loved ones who care for them.

A few sessions of solution focused hypnotherapy can improve sleep, boost resilience and reduce stress and anxiety helping you to find your way through the difficult challenges a diagnosis brings.

✨ Meet the Inspired To Change Team ✨

Today, we’re introducing Emma Bancroft, Solution Focused Hypnotherapist at To Change Medway.

Before becoming a hypnotherapist, Emma worked as a teacher - a career she continues alongside her hypnotherapy practice.

Emma experienced burnout, workplace stress and anxiety first-hand. She knows what it can feel like when your mind is constantly on alert, when worries start to take over, and when it feels as though anxiety is affecting increasingly more areas of your life.

It was during this challenging time that Emma discovered Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

For her, it was the thing that helped her regain a sense of control and move forwards - and it changed the direction of her life.

Inspired by her own experience, Emma trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and now helps others understand why they feel the way they do, how their brain responds to stress and anxiety, and most importantly, what they can do to start creating positive change.

Emma is particularly passionate about supporting people experiencing anxiety, overwhelm and low confidence. She also enjoys helping people with travel-related anxiety, whether that’s a fear of flying, driving, motorways, feeling trapped, or the physical symptoms that can appear when anxiety takes hold.

But for Emma, it’s about more than simply reducing symptoms.

It’s about helping people realise that they’re not broken. That they’re not the only one struggling. And that they don’t have to stay stuck feeling the way they do now.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing more of the amazing people behind Inspired To Change - sharing their stories and the reasons they do what they do.
Have you ever noticed how anxiety can start affecting areas of your life you never expected it to?

Drop us a comment or send us a message to find out how understanding your brain could help you move forwards.

"Self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential!"

Our clients often tell us that they feel guilty if they put themselves first.

The things they could be doing for themselves are usually bottom of the list and often they never get round to them.

Doing those things that help us to feel better, to feel happy, to enjoy ourselves and our lives is essential. It's these very things that help us have the capacity to help and support those around us.

Just like they tell us when we travel on a plane - we have to put our own oxygen mask on first, otherwise we won't be able to help others!
