To round off International Assistance Dog Week, we’re proud to introduce you to Vic and Assistance Dog Titan, another of our recent partnerships.

Having completed Placement Training and successfully passed their Public Access Test, the pair are now officially partnered. They’ve already formed a brilliant bond and make a wonderful team.

At home, Titan helps Vic with the everyday jobs that become difficult when bending is a challenge. He picks up dropped items including house keys, Vic’s wallet and mobile phone, opens kitchen cupboards and even helps with the washing by emptying the machine and passing each item of laundry to Vic.

From lending a paw around the house to being a constant companion, Titan has become an important part of Vic’s everyday life.

Officially partnered, brilliantly matched and very much . 🐾

For Damian, Gibson’s support doesn’t stop when he leaves home. Gibson goes to work with him too!

Partnered since 2018, Gibson helps Damian manage his working day, recognising when it’s time for a break and offering a gentle nudge. Damian says Gibson provides “a degree of confidence and support which has allowed me to continue my career.”

Over the years, they’ve also developed their own ways of working together, including a series of hand signals that allow Damian to communicate with Gibson discreetly. This is particularly useful during presentations, when hearing the word “sit” could otherwise cause a little confusion!

Damian’s experience shows what a difference it makes when an assistance dog partnership is understood and welcomed in the workplace.

As Hounds for Heroes works towards full ADI accreditation, we also recognise how trusted training standards can help organisations understand and welcome assistance dog partnerships with confidence.

For Damian and Gibson, is all part of the working day. 🐾

A huge thank you to Gregg Stevenson MBE, a highly respected British Army veteran, Paralympic gold medallist and advocate for the Armed Forces community, for taking the time to visit Hounds for Heroes!

It was a pleasure to welcome you to our headquarters and share more about the life-changing work we do supporting injured and disabled members of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services through our specially trained assistance dogs.

We always value the opportunity to show visitors, introduce them to our incredible team and highlight the impact that partnerships and support have on the people we help.

Thank you for your interest, your time, and for taking the time to learn more about our mission. We look forward to staying in touch and hopefully working together in the future.

As we celebrate International Assistance Dog Week, we’re so pleased to introduce you to Saeeka and Assistance Dog, Biggles, one of our recent partnerships.

After completing Placement Training and successfully passing their Public Access Test, Saeeka and Biggles are now officially partnered.

Biggles is trained to bring Saeeka everyday items including the post, shoes, clothing, keys and her phone. He can also help her stand from a chair and move from lying on the floor into a seated position, giving Saeeka greater independence at home.

Biggles has also fitted right into family life, and having him by her side gives Saeeka more confidence and reassurance when they’re out and about together.

After all the work that has brought them to this point, we couldn’t be prouder of them both. Saeeka and Biggles really are . 🐾

A message of absolute solidarity to our incredible UK Emergency Services crews and volunteers.

Working through a heatwave is gruelling enough, but facing it while keeping our communities safe and dealing with devastating losses takes a level of courage that deserves all our respect.

To everyone on the frontline right now: thank you. We see you, we feel your losses, and we stand firmly by your side. Always.

This International Assistance Dog Week, we’re proud to announce that Hounds for Heroes is officially an ADI - Assistance Dogs International (ADI) and Assistance Dogs UK Candidate Member! 🐾

ADI sets the global gold standard for assistance dog training, ethics and animal welfare. This is an important milestone as we work towards full accreditation and continue strengthening everything we do.

Scramble was the first puppy to join our training programme after we became a Candidate Member, making the beginning of his journey particularly special to us.

Reaching this point has been made possible by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, Puppy Parents, Full-time Fosterers and supporters. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get here. Together, we’ll continue striving to build assistance dog partnerships grounded in trust, safety and excellence.
