For our food festival we had food from 5 different countries.

The Philippines....chicken noodles and chicken wings
Thailand.....spring rolls
India.....chicken curry and chicken biryani
America....burgers, hotdogs and pizza
England...sausage rolls, chips and scones

The residents coloured our country signs, our aeroplanes for the bunting and made both paper and scrap material bunting.

Our new garden bar was also finished just in time to provide welcome refreshments and ice lollies on what was a fabulous, sunny afternoon.

Our International Food Festival 💜

We had a wonderful afternoon in the garden enjoying entertainment by Ryan followed by Alice who took us on a musical journey around the world.

Sarinya and her kitchen staff worked hard to provide delicious food from various countries which families,friends, staff and residents enjoyed.

Thank you to all who helped to make it a special afternoon.

What a busy day😊

We looked through the memory books, chatting about times gone by.

Ray remembered his garden and growing roses, how he loved the smell in the warm summer evenings.
Beryl liked the fashion book. She talked about styling hair in the latest fashion and wearing hats to church. London was the place to shop for the best outfits.
David loved the bird books, pointing out the ones he knew. He especially liked the penguins.
Jackie loved the glamour of the 1950's fashions with twirly dresses and matching accessories.

Yvonne and Jocelyn enjoyed the sunshine and we used the merlin app to listen to the birds.

Mary, Jenny and Roy made sunflowers and coloured on ice cream pictures on World Ice Cream day.

This was followed by everyone enjoying a delicious, cool ice lolly while we shared memories of the ice cream van and the marvellous choices they used to get.

We have all enjoyed watching the football, especially the England - France game.🎉But congratulations must go to Spain 🍾🥳...

We've had a few weeks of fun-filled football activities. ⚽

We have tried our hand at playing football on the digital projector, we changed our beanbag toss game into a football pitch and scored goals, and we had loads of fun with the football slider game - a favourite with both staff and residents.💜

Monday morning is activity board day and this morning Mary helped.

She took all the old cards down and then began the task of sorting out the new cards.

It was quite tricky but she was an expert at finding the cards we needed.

Once they were all in order she hung them up ready for the new week.

Everyday is a busy day with a range of activities at Steep House.

Duplo and colouring help with fine motor movement and hand eye coordination.

Nora surprised herself with how much she enjoyed building a Duplo tower and has plans for the next time to build some houses.

Roy loved colouring the Portsmouth picture, leading to talk of how much he loves the city and especially the football team!

Armed forces day is a chance to honour and support the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.

We spent some time listening to the music of various different military bands and reminiscing and reading our books about the war and the different services.

We have a few residents who have served and we thank them all and everyone who has served.
