Just incase you are in need of support, I trained as an end of life doula some years ago and I use my training lightly, it informs the content of the conversations that I have with clients.

There is no ‘right’ time. Anytime can be the right time to start talking about end-of-life wishes. It doesn’t just have to be when someone is ill, or because the end-of-life feels close. Conversations about wishes can happen gradually, when we are well and have time to think about what matters to us, what we would want, and what we might not want.

If you don’t have a preference about something - make sure you communicate this too, to save the people important to you agonising over a decision that didn’t matter to you.

We know that starting the conversation can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be complicated, and if you’re not sure where to begin, an end of life doula can help you with where to start in a way that feels right for you.

This is a really important post to share. A couple of weeks ago I had Darn put down.

You will know that I love animals and I loved him so much but he was stressed by life and that made my life really difficult.

Every day was a negotiation and it wasn't fair on either of us. It also wasn't fair on Bobbin - she is totally relaxed again and life is good.

It is essential, in my opinion, to be truthful to yourself, do what you can to be honest, kind and realistic but also you must be brave and if that means making changes, then do it.

Own your loss and sadness but know that it will get better and by being true to yourself you will make a difference to other people too.

It is high summer here in Hampshire and the countryside is looking fabulous. Does anyone need an excuse for a party? How about reaffirming your committment to your partner?

It would be my pleasure to lead a ceremony, large or small, in a special place that means everything to you both.

St Giles Churchyard, Blendworth. A peaceful spot I pass regularly on my dog walks. There is a tranquility to the place that I find enticing and the dogs are happy to sit quietly while I think.
