MenB vaccination for young people 💉

The MenB vaccination programme for young people is delivered through community pharmacy, not general practice.

Depending on which group you fall into, you can either book an appointment online or find your nearest pharmacy offering the vaccine.

Two groups are eligible:

✅ Young people born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008
✅ Anyone born on or after 21 July 2001 who is starting university, or starting at some further education colleges as a residential student, for the first time this autumn. This also includes international students.

Patients born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008 can book an appointment online or by calling 119 free of charge. You will need to be registered with a GP in England to use the online service.

Students in the second group should find a participating pharmacy on the NHS website. You will need evidence of your university or college offer, but you do not need to be registered with a GP.

The vaccine is given in two doses, at least four weeks apart. Patients should get their first dose as soon as they can so they are fully protected before the academic year begins. First doses are available until 31 December 2026 and second doses until 31 March 2027.
