As we move through July, many of us are making the most of the longer days, spending more time outdoors, gardening, walking, travelling, or enjoying family holidays. While these activities are great for our wellbeing, they can also place extra demands on our bodies.

At my McTimoney Chiropractic Clinic in Plymouth, I often see patients with aches and pains that have developed from increased activity, long car journeys, DIY projects, or simply spending more time in the garden. Sometimes it's only after we slow down that we notice stiffness in the back, neck, shoulders or hips.

McTimoney Chiropractic is a gentle and precise technique that aims to improve the alignment of the musculoskeletal system, helping the body move more comfortably and efficiently. Every patient receives an individual assessment, and treatment is tailored to their specific needs.

Whether you're dealing with back pain, neck discomfort, joint stiffness or simply want to move more freely this summer, seeking treatment early can often help prevent small problems from becoming bigger ones.

Remember to stay hydrated during the warmer weather, stretch before and after physical activity, and listen to your body if something doesn't feel right.

If you're experiencing musculoskeletal discomfort and would like to find out whether McTimoney Chiropractic may be able to help please get on contact.

Staying Comfortable During the Heatwave – A Chiropractic Perspective

With the warm weather we're enjoying this July, many people are making the most of the sunshine. While it's great to get outside, a heatwave can also leave you feeling tired, dehydrated, and achy.

Hot weather can cause muscles to fatigue more quickly, and dehydration may increase muscle cramps and stiffness. If you're gardening, walking, or spending longer than usual outdoors, remember to:

Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Take regular breaks in the shade.

Avoid lifting heavy objects during the hottest part of the day.

Stretch gently before and after activities.

If you're already living with back pain, neck pain, or joint stiffness, the change in routine and extra physical activity can sometimes aggravate existing problems.

At Back To Normal Chiropractic Clinic, Plymouth, I provide gentle McTimoney chiropractic care tailored to each individual. Whether you're experiencing a flare-up of back pain, neck discomfort, or simply feeling stiff after enjoying the summer weather, chiropractic treatment may help improve joint function and support your body's natural movement.

Whatever you're doing this summer, stay safe, keep hydrated, and look after your spine as well as your skin!

July is a wonderful time to enjoy everything that Plymouth has to offer. Whether you're walking along the Hoe, spending time at the beach, gardening, or taking family holidays, the warmer weather encourages us all to be more active.

While being active is excellent for our health, it's also the time of year when I often see patients with back, neck and joint discomfort caused by doing a little too much, too quickly. Long days in the garden, carrying heavy luggage, paddleboarding, or even spending hours relaxing on a sun lounger can all place unexpected strain on the body.

A few simple steps can help keep you moving comfortably this summer:

Warm up before gardening, walking or sporting activities.

Lift carefully by bending your knees rather than your back.

Change position regularly if you're driving long distances or sitting outside for extended periods.

Stay well hydrated, particularly during warmer weather, as dehydration can contribute to muscle stiffness and fatigue. For most people, drinking water regularly is all that's needed to stay hydrated during hot weather.

Listen to your body. Persistent pain is not something you should simply put up with.

One of the things I enjoy most about being an independent McTimoney chiropractor is getting to know my patients over many years. Every person is different, and treatment should always be tailored to the individual. The McTimoney technique uses gentle and precise adjustments that aim to improve joint.

As June comes to an end, many of us are making the most of the longer days, warmer weather, and spending more time outdoors. Whether you're gardening, walking along Plymouth's beautiful waterfront, tackling DIY projects, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, it's important to remember that these seasonal activities can sometimes place extra strain on your back and joints.

As a McTimoney chiropractor at my Back To Normal Chiropractic Clinic. I have over 30 years of experience.

I often see an increase in aches and pains at this time of year. After a long winter and spring, it's easy to do too much too soon. Gardening for hours without a break, lifting heavy pots, or spending weekends decorating can all lead to stiffness, muscle tension, and back discomfort.

A few simple tips can help keep you moving comfortably:

Take regular breaks when gardening or doing DIY.

Bend your knees rather than your back when lifting.

Stay well hydrated, especially during warmer weather.

Gentle stretching before and after physical activity can help reduce stiffness.

McTimoney chiropractic is a gentle and precise technique that aims to improve joint mobility, reduce tension, and support your body's natural movement. Many patients find that regular chiropractic care helps them stay active and enjoy the activities they love throughout the summer months.

Looking After Your Back and Joints During the June Heatwave

With the recent hot weather in Plymouth, many of us are enjoying getting out in the sunshine, spending more time in the garden, walking more, or making the most of the coast. But while the warmer weather can lift our mood, it can also place extra strain on the body if we’re not careful.

During a heatwave, dehydration can affect muscles and joints more than people realise. When we don’t drink enough water, muscles can become tighter, fatigue sets in more quickly, and existing aches and pains may feel worse. Gardening, carrying shopping, long walks, and even sleeping badly in the heat can all aggravate back pain, neck tension, and joint stiffness.

As a McTimoney chiropractor here in Plymouth, I often remind patients that small things can make a big difference in hot weather. Try to keep hydrated throughout the day, avoid overdoing physical jobs in the midday heat, and take regular breaks if you’re bending, lifting, or spending time in the garden. Gentle stretching and keeping mobile can also help prevent stiffness from building up.

If the heat has left you feeling sore, stiff, or out of balance, chiropractic treatment may help to ease discomfort and improve mobility. McTimoney chiropractic uses gentle, precise adjustments designed to support the body’s natural alignment and function.

If you would like to book an appointment or have a chat about whether treatment may help, please feel free to get in touch.
