‘Go back to basics, switch off from the pressure of needing to be online.’

What do you think is important for young people to know as they prepare for growing up?

Remembering Yayoi Kusama.

We were so sad to hear that Yayoi Kusama died last month, aged 97.

Kusama was an artist who never seemed particularly interested in making herself, or her art smaller.

She took the things she saw in her own mind and turned them into something the rest of the world could experience.

And that is exactly why her work features so heavily in our Activity Pack.

Because when we talk about creativity with young people, we don’t want to teach them that art has to look right. We want them to experiment.

Kusama spent her life showing us what can happen when you give yourself permission to see the world differently.

And now, through the activities inspired by her work, a new generation gets to do exactly that.

So today, we’re remembering the woman behind the dots.

Thank you, Yayoi, for reminding us that there is no one right way to make art, and no limit to where imagination can take you.

Your dots are going to keep travelling.

Forever. ♾️

Let yourself be seen before you feel “ready”
Most confident people aren’t fearless.
They just stopped waiting for permission.

A lot of alternative young people grow up feeling like they’re “too much” and “not enough” at the exact same time.

Too loud. Too sensitive. Too emotional. Too different.
But somehow still not cool enough, pretty enough, confident enough or easy enough to understand.

So confidence becomes this thing we think we have to *earn* before we can fully express ourselves.

But real confidence usually starts much smaller and quieter than that.

It’s wearing the thing you actually like instead of what makes you blend in.
It’s speaking even when your voice shakes.
It’s creating things before you believe they’re good enough.
It’s finding people who don’t make you shrink to fit beside them.

Not every confidence ritual has to be dramatic.
Sometimes it’s just slowly returning to yourself.

Which slide hit hardest? 🤍

I. Am. Dog. I’m 12 - and a half. I LOVE bake off, and cooking, oh and when it rains and you can get all cosy with a blanket and a hot chocolate and watch girly movies.

I LOVE Taylor Swift, not really the new album though. I like the old stuff like Shake It Off because it reminds me of dancing with my two mums. They are awesome. They always cook and bake with me and one night a week, they let ME pick and cook dinner. We all sit around the table every night and say one thing that was good and one thing that was hard about the day and then one thing we’re looking forward to about tomorrow. It’s my favourite time of day. I’ve got to go, my friends are calling for me. See you soon.

THIS is why we made Confidence Club.

We want to remind younger people to focus your energy on the things they can influence and be kinder to themselves and trust that everything doesn’t have to happen immediately.

We do that through teaching emotional regulation in a way that resonates with young people, a way that feels fun and a way that feels like play.

What does your younger self need to know?
