More info about the Vagus nerve for those who are interested.

For the first time ever, scientists have created a detailed 3D map of the human vagus nerve.

Why does that matter?

Because the vagus nerve is one of the body's most important communication pathways.

It connects the brain with the heart, lungs, digestive system and many other organs and plays a central role in regulating breathing, heart rate, digestion and other automatic body functions.

This landmark project, funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, is expected to help researchers better understand how the vagus nerve works and support the development of more precise neuromodulation therapies in the future.

For Bowen Therapists, it's another reminder of something we've long appreciated: the body is profoundly interconnected.

Rather than viewing the body as a collection of separate parts, Bowen Therapy takes a whole-body approach, recognising that supporting the body's communication and regulatory systems is just as important as addressing where symptoms appear.

As research continues to uncover the complexity of the human body, one thing becomes increasingly clear... everything is connected.

Humming is also great for the Vagus nerve.

Humming is also great for the Vagus nerve.

Play, joy, and love are biological necessities, and the science is unambiguous. 🧬

Laughter lowers cortisol and epinephrine, crying releases built-up nervous system tension, hugging shifts you out of fight-or-flight and into calm, singing stimulates the vagus nerve (which governs your heart rate, digestion, and immune response) and dancing actually promotes the growth of new brain cells.

These aren’t fringe concepts, this is your physiology responding to joy in real time.

We’ve built entire industries around optimizing food, sleep, and exercise, and those things matter deeply, but joy, play, and love belong in that same conversation.

Think of them as part of your health stack — non-negotiable, not optional, and available to you right now.

Joy IS health.

Aren't our bodies incredible?

💪 Muscles make up as much as 40% of adult body weight
⚡️ Nerve impulses can transmit signals at speeds up to 400 km/h
🦴 Your leg bones are stronger, gram for gram, than concrete (in terms of compression strength, relative to weight)

And yet, even the strongest systems can experience tension, imbalance, or fatigue.

That’s why gentle, whole-body approaches like Bowen Therapy come in. It works with the body’s natural design to restore ease and balance, as best it's able.

Not all bodywork works the same way.

Bowen Therapy takes a different approach.

Rather than forcing change, Bowen uses gentle, precise moves followed by intentional pauses — allowing the body time to respond.

The focus isn’t on doing more.

It’s on understanding the body’s signals, working with its natural processes, and knowing when less can be more.

That’s the Bowen difference.
