Surviving trauma is only the beginning. Recovery, safety, connection and rebuilding are part of the journey.
This week is Trauma Awareness Week, and I wanted to talk about something I see and hear so often in my work.
Trauma isnāt always obvious, and it doesnāt always come from one single event. It can come from childhood experiences, abuse, neglect, difficult relationships, loss, accidents, illness, or simply having to cope with far more than you should have had to at the time.
You can be functioning, working, raising a family and looking like youāre absolutely fine, while still carrying the effects of what happened. Maybe you overthink, struggle to relax, always feel the need to be in control, find it difficult to trust, feel anxious or disconnected, or simply feel tired of feeling the way you do.
These responses donāt mean there is something wrong with you. Often, they are ways you learned to cope and protect yourself. They may have made sense at one point in your life, even if they no longer feel helpful.
You donāt need a diagnosis to deserve support, and you donāt have to compare your experience with anyone elseās. If something is still affecting you, itās okay to want things to feel different.
Through 1/1 hypnotherapy, I offer a private space where we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, helping you create more choice in how you respond and supporting you towards feeling calmer, safer and more connected with yourself.
I also run Sunday Group RESETās, where everyone in the room has chosen to be there. You donāt have to explain your story or share anything personal, ladies at 6pm, guys at 7.15pm. You can simply come along, switch off for a while and give yourself some time and space.
If youāve read this and thought, āThatās me,ā please know youāre not alone. There is support, and there is a way forward.
You survived what happened.
Now you deserve the opportunity to work towards something beyond simply surviving. š¤
