Poles APart AP - Alternative Education Provision

Poles APart AP - Alternative Education Provision Poles APart AP is an Alternative Education Provision based in Devon and Cornwall. We are built on passion and genuine care for the students we work with.

We cater for ages 4-18 and have centres in Plymouth, Exeter, Bodmin and Tiverton. Poles APart AP is an alternative provision with a difference and we are proud to be working with young people aged 4-18 across Devon and Cornwall. As a provision and a staff team, we genuinely love what we do and appreciate how rewarding it is to know we are changing the lives of the young people in our care. We aim to allow students to reset, reflect, and re-engage, thereby giving them the confidence to positively change their pathway, which in turn supports them in leading happy and successful lives.

Each of our centres has their very own Wellephant. A Wellephant is a dedicated member of staff who is the Rainbow Tracking expert at their centre. Our wonderful Wellephants are responsible for creating displays, leading Rainbow Tracking activities, and supporting both staff and students in embedding it into everyday life at Poles APart.

They are a really special part of what we do and here they are! 💛🐘

We were honoured to be invited as guests on Hospital Radio Plymouth this weekend, with our wonderful Kirsten and Jodie joining the brilliant Howard to talk all about what we do and how we support our young people and the community. The show marked Hospital Air Radio's 100th anniversary and what an occasion it was!

A huge thank you to Howard and everyone at Hospital Radio for having us! Here's to the next 100! 📻🌟

Happy International Literacy Day! 🎉📚

Today across our centres students are getting stuck into some brilliant literacy activities, including story mapping the fable ‘Why the Cricket Chirps’ 🦗 - a wonderful way to explore storytelling, sequencing and creativity all in one.

Our Primary students are already well underway with their learning this term!

One activity that’s proving particularly popular is combining Art and ICT. Students have been drawing their own animals, ready for the exciting part...using AI to bring their creations to life! 🐻🦁🐉

It’s a fun way to mix creativity and technology, while giving students the chance to see their own ideas transformed into something a little bit magical.

‘Nature is Calling’ and we cannot wait!

This term our topic is all things nature and animals and we have some incredibly exciting things lined up! 🐾

Some of our centres will have vet role play areas for students to explore, we are currently holding a poll across all centres to decide which animal we will be sponsoring at Exmoor Zoo plus there will be plenty of art, trips, and so much more all linked to our brilliant new topic. A potential dinosaur sighting has already been reported by our Bodmin students! 👀

This term is going to be a wild one! 🌿🐾

We're looking forward to welcoming students back to our centres tomorrow, along with those joining us for the first time! Our centres are prepped and staff have their days planned.

We hope the summer has treated everyone well, though the weather has certainly turned, so please make sure children come prepared with coats and wet weather clothing.

For those new to our provision, the day begins at 9.30am, and centres are staffed today if you have any questions ahead of tomorrow. You can reach us on 01752 956523.

While our students enjoy the last days of the summer holidays, our brilliant staff are making the most of our inset days!

Our team have been getting stuck into first aid training, making sure they are fully equipped to handle any injuries and keep our students safe, alongside mandatory training, including safeguarding and GDPR, because keeping children safe is at the heart of absolutely everything we do.

Are you a parent or carer looking for alternative provision for your young person? Do you think we could be the right fit for your child?

We offer up to 15 hours per week of bespoke, trauma-informed intervention for young people aged 4-18 facing barriers to education.

Referrals to us typically come through schools or local authorities. The best first step is to speak to your school’s SENCO or Local Authority caseworker. They can then get in touch with us directly and we can have an honest conversation about how we might be able to meet need and provide the right support.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to drop us a message. 💛

We are so incredibly proud to share this feedback from one of our families. Words like these remind us exactly why we do what we do. Every single member of our team shows up every day with genuine care and dedication and knowing the difference it makes to our young people and their families means everything to us.

With the new term just around the corner, we cannot wait to continue supporting our current students and welcome new ones to the Poles APart family!

The gym is a really important part of our provision, especially for our secondary students. Beyond the physical benefits, it does so much for mental health, confidence and relationships. Our students write their own training plans, set their own goals, and genuinely motivate each other along the way. 💪🏼

One week of summer left…we are looking forward to getting back to it! 🌟
