It was disappointing to hear This Morning suggesting that smaller salons and independent nail technicians would perhaps decant nail products, or wouldn’t be as reputable as larger salons.

Professional nail products legally placed on the market in the UK are subject to cosmetic product regulations, regardless of whether they are being sold to or used by a large salon or an independent nail technician.

If you are ever unsure about anything nail or beauty related, please ask your qualified nail technician or beauty therapist. They are professionals who understand the products they use and the regulations relevant to their industry.

On a positive note, however, it was nice to see CND and Bio Sculpture get a shout-out 👍

☀️ SPF - are you using enough protection?

With temperatures soaring today yet again, it’s a good time for a little reminder about protecting your skin from UV damage.

🧴 Choose SPF 30 or above

SPF 50 is a great choice for prolonged sun exposure and sensitive skin. Don’t forget to apply to ears and the back of the neck.

🔄 Reapply regularly

Especially after swimming, sweating, and towel drying.

🕶️ Don’t rely on SPF alone

Seek shade, wear protective clothing, a hat and sunglasses.

💐 If you’re wearing perfume

Be mindful of where you apply it, some fragrances contain ingredients which make your skin more sensitive to UV light, causing irritation and pigmentation.

☀️ And remember…

SPF isn’t just for preventing sunburn. UV exposure is one of the biggest contributors to premature ageing and pigmentation.

Enjoy the sunshine and stay sun safe 😎

I had another fabulous day of training yesterday, looking forward to bringing new treatments to the salon 🧖‍♀️ I will be updating the website very soon, so keep an eye out for them appearing on there!

I also had the opportunity to try out the skin scanner at the training centre, which took some pretty scary looking images 😂 the skin scanner is used to evaluate skin health by revealing underlying damage and conditions, which would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.

A super interesting and informative day all round 😊🩶

Back in the salon today after two days of training in Derby (in a beautifully air-conditioned space, which was very welcome in this heatwave!).

I’m all finished for Christmas now! I will be back in the salon on 30th December, then taking a little break over New Year and returning on 6th January.
